Looks like the owner will be getting a new G pretty soon.

This is a good reminder not to leave your keys in the car and/or your car running. Your keys are the first line of defense from car theft. Value them as much as you value your car...

LOL or 'fob', as it may be. How far would the car go w/o the fob in it?

It will go until the engine is turned off.

Really? I never tried that - getting out of the car with the engine running and the fob in my pocket. I just assumed when I got out of range of the car it would stop beeping and then shut off the car.

I guess for safety they can't do that, since if your fob battery died while driving or it had interference the car could shut off on you at a bad moment.

On some recent really cold nights, when I've gone into a convenience store to just pick up something really quickly, I've left my car running with the fob in my pocket and locked the door with the door button. Keeps her warm and locked. Guess if someone really wanted to bust in they could drive it away, but then again I'm hoping they'd realize that if it's on, I'm probably coming out really quickly.
