G37 Sports Coupe vs Q60 Coupe

In 2014, the G37 Sedan became Infiniti Q50. G37 Coupe and Convertible became Infiniti Q60 under Infiniti's new naming structure - Here's the place to discuss the Q50 and Q60!

Car: 2004 G35 Coupe

Post

Bought my first Infiniti a 2004 G35 coupe (too much fun) and traded that in for an 2008 EX35 - (bought a dog, :), and still have this car with about 150k mi. Still runs great with smooth power. Going to give it to my son in the next year. I am retired and just want to have a fun set of wheels to tour around in. I was first looking strictly at the G37 S coupe but now the Q60 coupe is in play as well. Interested in opinions on both models:

2012 - 2014 G37 S coupe vs 2015 - 2016 Q60 coupe - Comments on these items and others:

1. Exterior design
2. Interior design
3. Entertainment System (do both cars come with a sub woofer in the trunk - my EX35 does) differences. Do they both come with Bluetooth
connectivity.
4. Engine specs. and performance
5. Interior seating and comfort on long rides
6. Handling on tight winding roads. Yes I realize it really depends on the tires, but any comments welcomed.
7. Gas mileage
8. Automatic vs manual transmission. Gave up may last manual shifter in my 1995 BMW 325 as it was a terrible commuter car in traffic.
However since this Infiniti will be mostly a fun run about car I am thinking of going back to a stick. Comments?
9. Headlight quality at night (night vision not as sharp anymore)
10. Maintenance cost - is one more expensive than the other to maintain at the Infiniti dealership.
11. Cost - I estimate the Q60 will cost an additional $5k - $8k more than the G37 S coupe and need to decide if this additional coin is worth it.
12. Other items .......

Thank you in advance

In 2014 the G37 was renamed the Q60 and ran for 2 model years: 2014 and 2015. There was no 2016. The current twin-turbo version of the Q60 was released in 2017.

The 2008-2013 G37 coupe is the same generation as the 2014-2015 Q60 with some cosmetic changes to the front bumper and things like streaming audio. Otherwise they are relatively the same with the 3.7 L NA motor and auto or 6mt manual options. The IPL was more aggressive styling and a few more ponies. AWD or RWD. Convertible options available as well.

The 2017+ is completely different generation. 3.0L TT motor, auto only, Red Sport option to 400hp (under rated). Rear suspension is completely different (same as the Q50), front suspension is the same. AWD or RWD.

Which version of Q60 are you considering? '14-15 or '17+

After much thought I plan to look for a nice 2012 -2013 G37 S coupe with low miles (less than 50k) and beautifully maintained interior. I prefer this body design over the new Q60 design. Not many around so I will be patient. Just looking for a nice fast sporter to tour around the Phoenix area.

There are some in that mileage range still popping up available here and there. Good luck with your quest.
