I'm new to these forums, first time viewing and posting so I hope you'll give me a warm welcome and please forgive my questions if they seem stupid - while I've been driving cars for many years my knowlegdge of them is really just at the surface.
Ok so I recently moved to the Dubai (UAE) and I went into an infiniti showroom and was asking about an Infiniti G37 (both sedan and coupe) and I really love these cars. They're stylish, understated and built by the same company that builds the GTR!
I had my heart set on buying an Infiniti G37 Sedan 2010 but to my shock when I asked the saleslady if we could start going through the options and specs I was told "We don't do that here, you buy the car as is. We import them in bulk from Japan and you can't change or customise anything even the colour".
I'm absolutely shocked with this though what's even more shocking is, she couldn't tell me what spec they were importing. I phoned up all of the Infiniti dealers (the way it works here is each emirate only has 1 dealer for each brand, i.e. 1 showroom 1 source for buying and servicing), and all the Infiniti dealers said the same thing. You buy the car as is, no options to customise or spec and none of them could tell me what spec they were importing.
So I phoned up infiniti US and informed them of the situation, they weren't interested in helping so I'm really confused and Im hoping you guys who seem to know so much about these cars could help me figure out what spec they're importing as I'm considering buying a g37 in the US instead and getting it shipped over (talked to a dealer today about it).
Here is the Infiniti middle east website: http://www.infiniti-dubai.com/en/g_sedan.html and you can see the car spec listings there. It's not like the US site which has four specs to choose from (G37, G37 Journey, G37x, G37 6MT).
On top of this, it's also priced at 190,000 dirhams UAE and they're offering a discount to 150,000 dirhams (about $42,000) which is I believe the most expensive, fully loaded price of an infiniti g37 in the US. This is why im trying to ascertain what spec they're offering here to see if it's comparable. (i.e. sport suspension? bigger tyres, nicer alloys??)
While I have you guys I'd also like to ask a few questions:
1. Have the fog lights on the bottom grill been removed for the 2010 edition? I see them in pictures but on the cars themselves they seem to have been removed.
2. I saw a post about "Limited Edition G37's" and I saw a front lip bumper on the limited edition which I really like. Is it possible to get this bumper on its own? I hate the standard bodykits on the g37. I was thinking of taking it to a body kit shop and getting them to do front, back bumpers, and side skirts. This is the one I'm referring to:
3. Is there an advantage to getting a 6MT over a 7 speed steptronic gear?
4. In theory, is it possible to put GTR alloys/wheels on an infiniti G37? I absolutely adore these wheels and I think they'd look really good on the g37
5. Is there a place with a large and comprehensive list of bodykits available for the G37's? I tried googling but could only find 3 or 4 bodykits
As you can see my questions are quite novice I'm sure and your help would be greatly appreciated.
