Guys,
I am new to the group and thinking of buying G37 sedan. I have following two options in mind. I plan keep this car for at least 10 years.
1. Buy new 2013 - don't want to spend that much money
2. Buy used with low mileage - 2009-2011 -> Which model should i focus on and how many miles are too much, what should i look for when i test drive the used one?

I also wanted to know does it cost a lot to maintain this car (german cars cost fortune) since this is my first luxury sedan.

Thanks in advance for your help and would help me make wise decision when i buy it.

if you get a 2010 or newer they are all carry overs up til 2013, the new model looks to be a 2014. so if you need a car now buy a used 2010 or newer and you will have a current model sedan. but if you can wait til mid next year you could snagg a 2014 redesign.

an oil change at the dealer, which includes a full inspection and top off of other fluids is ~$45. thats what you would pay at walmart. But once you get past the oil changes infiniti maintence is on par or little less than your german cars. You do have the option of going to a nissian dealer to get maintenece which usualy have a lower labor rate. But the only an Infiniti dealer wil do warranty work.

With that said the Infiniti is very easy to self maintain, all the filters and fliuds are easy to get to and dont require any special fluids. (except the in-cabin filter is a pain to change but very doable) The automatic transmission is maintence free, so that saves you money compared to german trannys that need regular service. this forum has many DIY posts for maintance, you will be surprised how easy it is to self maintain a G. (if you get a X (awd) model the transfer case does require a nissian only fluid matic S, $16 a bottle, but you only need one bottle to flush the fluid)

If you just go into the dealer for only oil changes, inspection, and warranty work you wont spend much money maintaining a G37. Plus you will build a relationship with the dealer if ever you have a serious problem. The car seems bullet proof as ive yet to have any engine problems on my last two Gs (i put 70k on my 2005 g35x in two years and now im at 75k on my 2010 g37x in two years). I did have my left arm rest leather crack and replaced twice under warranty on my g37x. I had the stock battery die on my 2005 g35x and a some throttle body warranty work done on my 2005 g35x for noise reasons, car functioned fine. those are the closest to defects ive had in my last 4 years of G ownership with many track days in those years.

as long as you do the maintence, the car will be very reliable.

Welcome to NICO

Price a new one

Price used ones

Subtract the price of a used one from the price of a new one
Divide by ten years

Keep in mind that this cost over ten years includes all new parts, your choice of color and options, a warranty, and loaner cars during service.
