Hello everyone,

I'm new here and asking for everyones opinon... I scuffed my new G37's front rim today and was wondering if I should get it fixed by the dealership for 125 or just go all out and buy new G37 Chrome rims?

Will chrome rims look good on the G37 Platnium Graphite? Normally I wouldnt care if the car is a few years old but I just bought it a few months ago and the scuff is killing me lol.

What do you guys think? thanks!

Welcome to NICO

The first ding, the first scuff, the first mark or piece of dirt on a brand new car always hurts. Kind of like breaking of with your first gf. A couple of mine were accidently scuffed quite some time ago. They are still scuffed.INMHO, wait a few months and see if you are still upset then as you are now. Then decide. That $125 may be needed to fill your gasoline tank? What would you rather have? A full tank to drive your G or perfect rims?

If you like working with your hands go buy a small container of bondo for like $9 and fix the scuff. Sand the bondo well and the rest of the wheel lightly and wipe off. Then get some paint and repaint the wheel. If you can get a color close to original then just paint that wheel or do them all while you at it. Thats what I did at least.

Thanks for the replies guys. Eventually I was thinking about doing a chrome exchange for my stock 19" wheels for 625 +shipping. I did this for my 2002 Celica GTS and the chrome wheels looked great for 4+ years.

Do u guys think the G37 will look good with Stock Chrome wheels?

I am going to respond as though you have the 19" rims. I do not have the 18" rims, so I do not know if my answer will also apply to 18" rims.

The wheels are painted. Rust-o-leum metallic silver is a very close match. Because they are painted, they can be easily touched up/repaired. Anyone with simple paint skills can repair painted wheels, saving the cost of a professional repair.

The 19" wheels are prone to scuffing. If you get chrome wheels, the only way to repair is to remove the wheel from the car, remove the tire from the wheel, and have the wheel re-chromed. Not cheap, or easy. Most likely, a two or three day process.

If you keep the painted wheels, you can repair them yourself everytime you have any sort of finish problem. Cheap and easy.

P.S. If you still want to go chrome, think about having the wheels polished. It is easier to touch up polished wheels and they weigh less than chromed wheels.

To be honest I love the stock 19" Rims on the G37. I might just stick with what I have and get the one scuff and minor dent i got in the rear fixed later if it still bothers me in a few months. Thanks for your advice everyone!
