Hello Guys

I just purchased my G37S 6MT this past Saturday 9/22. I did 200 miles in a day of driving around and indulging myself with luxury and spottiness. However, today my G37S had a problem. I was stopped at the light and the light turn green I shifted to first gear and the RPM wouldn't pass the 2500. The car was stumbling and not moving pass 5 miles. I stopped the car next to the curb I turned it off waited five minutes tried again and the same thing happened. I turned off the car again after 10 minutes and out of nothing the car was normal. I called my dealer and I have to take it back for service to find out what the problem was or is. I'm so frustrated you wouldn't believe. If any of you had this problem or a similar problem or you have an idea of what happened please let me know.

ThanksWes

Man, that is a little troubling....but I wouldnt worry too much. Sounds like a computer problem most likely. Had a similar issue with my BMW. After sitting in the garage for a stretch. It happened when I pulled it out. After starting it and stopping it for a bit then running it more it reset itself and hasnt happened since...knock on African Rosewood.

Fortunately the Dealer has diagnostic equipment that can check it out and it may have recorded the incident. At least the car is new and under warranty. Better for it to happen now then later.

Good luck with it and Keep us posted on what they find.

We had the exact same problem with our one week old Lexus IS-250 last year. The dealer fixed it in one visit. We traded it last Saturday for a G37 - same black interior, same wheat interior, totally different cars!

Well, Wes's problem occurred on Monday. I would like to believe his dealer had a chance to look at the car since then (today is Friday). Only, Wes has not posted anything. Either it was a real little problem and Wes did not feel that he needed to tell anyone what the problem was, or nothing really happened and he was just trying to stir up trouble.

DMKOZAK,

Sorry for not getting back earlier. I took my G to the dealer on Tuesday they checked it out and said everything was normal and no computer failure registered. It hasn't happened since and was probably just a glitch or possibly a user error:) u never know.

Alright, there is definately a pattern... I read these posts last night, then today for the first time I had the same problem as described above. i was glad I had read that i wasn't the only one so I didn't freak out as much, but there is definatelly something going on with these cars. I have been driving the car for over a month and this was the first time this happened.

Any word from others on this issue? I am out of town currently but will investigate further with the dealer when I return, but since they haven't been helpful on other issues, I don't expect this one to be any different.

THer eis no such thing as a RANDOM problem or glitch if it's happening to multiple cars. There is a PROBLEM. Insist that they pinpoint it and fix/replace the part.

Car: G37S 6mt - Fully loades

I can add to this post as well, I've had my G37S 6MT (fully loaded) for a little over a month now, and the second week I had the car ( less than 200 miles) the same problem happened to me. I'm fortunate to have a Brother-in-law who works for Infiniti as a AST tech. I took my car to his dealership thinking WTF... He threw in on the Scope, ran it threw all the diagnostics and found nothing wrong, he then call the Infiniti manufacturing Guru's and Here's their response... and I quote " The car has a software REV limiter for the first 500 miles than prevents the car from going into redline during the break-in period" - Turning the car off rests the limiter"; so appearently I went past some software limitation - sound like Microsoft windows to me....

Thats pretty smart but i think infiniti should have informed their customers on this.

That's great news about the "software REV limiter". I just got my G37 and no-one mentioned the breakin period. I noticed that it cut out the one or two times I hit the redline and I thought I had destroyed tthe engine.

I have driven about 300 miles without paying attention to keeping it under 4000 and in fact pushing the car. How can I tell if I have already screwed it up? I will definitely take it easy going forawd to 1200 miles.

Any advice appreciated.

Funny I asked my dealers mechanic about a breaking in period and he said there is none and said some people find pushing it right out of the gate was better!

I have had the car up to 110mph so I guess I will find out.

For what its worth. There is mention in the manual of the rev limiter kicking in if the engine is revved above 4000rpm while in park or neutral. It does not reference anything about a break in period though.

Just a check but is this only happening on 6MT's? Journey here and never seen this problem, I've had the car for a month now, daily driving. 660 miles on it. Sounds like a ECU glitch which would explain why it fixed itself.

Got 270 miles on my car and today I had a similar problem. I was just crusing alone and I noticed that when i tried to accelerate the rmps just started jumping between 3,500 and 4,000 rpms and almost bucking. The car will not go past this RPM limit now and the check engine light is on. I also noticed that the car seems to be running rough at idle or the auto transmission is not in the right gear at times.

I parked the car for a few hours and took it to the gym and it seemed fine at first but with in a few sec's of hitting the gas is started doing it again.

On the way home from the gym the car was losing power are 2k rmps and it had almost no throttle response at all just cutting out then kicking back in. I havent really payed much attention to the break in period but I wouldnt say im really beating the balls of the car by any means. I'll be taking it into the dealer tomorrow and hopefully they can pull codes since i have a check engine light on.

Took car into the dealer today and they said it went into some kinda safe mode.. There was all kinds of codes from the intake, timing, cylender missfire etc.. they cleared them and the car seems ok for now.

My salesman told me not to go over 4500 rpm's for the first 1250 miles. I never asked why but he alluded to a break in period.

Go back to your salesman and ask him for the owner’s manual that you apparently never received. When you get it, go to page 5-42. It discusses the break-in schedule. You’ll find the salesman was a bit generous in that among other things the manual suggests staying under 4,000rpm for the first 1,200 miles.

I had a similar problem this weekend on my 6MT. The car started bucking and wouldn't go past 200rpms. I got it into my garage and pulled out the owners manual with the 800 number to call to have it towed because it couldn't be driven. After I turned the car off I figured I'd start it up again and try to pull out so it would be easier to tow. Wouldn't you know the car was perfectly fine. I've put an additional 150 miles since and it's been fine. I didn't exactly obey the 1,200 mile break-in rule. I'm glad I know now and that I'm not the only one who this has happened to. If it happens again I'll take it to the dealer.
