Hi everybody. I'm currently shopping around for a new car. One of the cars I'm considering is the G37 Coupe. I've test driven both the MT6 and Journey Sport (Paddle Shifting) models and man it's really tough to decide on which one I would get if I decide on the the Coupe. Both really ride nicely. I test drove an Audi S5, but I really can't justify the 60K price (Options and TTL) so the G37 seems like something that gives more "bang for the buck". Anyone have any thoughts about both versions. Pros/Cons over one of the other. At this point, I know one thing that the Journey Sport offers from a practical point of view is the ability to go into a "manual" mode when one wants to. I guess this is good if at times you're in a lot of "stop and go" traffic. Anyway, I'd greatly appreciate current owners of the G37 what your thoughts are.

Kind Regards.

The only difference between the G37 6MT and the G37 Journey with the Sport package is the transmission -- 5 speed auto or 6 speed manual. They have the same sport suspension and 19 inch wheels and you can get the same packages - Premium, Navigation, Technology and 4 Wheel Active Steering. The 6MT might be a little faster than the Journey, but only if you are having a good day. Gas mileage will be essentially the same; what the 6MT gains on the highway it loses in the city.

For me there was no question. Cars with automatic transmissions need not exist. (The local BMW and Audi dealers screwed themselves out of a possible sale by failing to stock any manual transmission cars.)

If you enjoy shifting and don't have to put up with a lot of stop-and-go traffic, I would suggest the 6MT. Otherwise, the Journey will be a fine choice.

Agreed pretty much with Kendahl. I love driving a MT, but the realities of Los Angeles stop and go traffic made that impractical. The 5 Speed Auto with paddle shifters is a great compromise in this traffic environment as it gives you the ease of driving an automatic with the thrill of running through the gears in manual mode when conditions permit.
