Saw this on a G37 forum, anyone know if this mod would work on the A/C? Are the part numbers the same?

The only problem I see with this is when you hand out your valet key. How the hell are they supposed to get in your car.

Are there versions of the coupe that have keyholes? I don't think mine does but maybe I'm wrong... If so, then I can see the purpose of this thread, but if all other coupes don't have keyholes... then this is the most pointless thread in the history of NICO!

Um, are there any that don't? Mine certainly has a key hole on the driver's side right where you would think so I'd say that a mod of that sort may be possible. Section 3 in the owner's manual describes when to use it, i.e. your FOB battery dies and you need to get into your car...I dunno anyone else NOT have a keyhole on the driver's side?

I just checked a bunch of pics from ebay and nissan usa (incase I had a brainfart due to the fact that I have never used the mechanical key), there is defintiely a keyhole on the driver's side and it looks like that mod would definitely be the same as compared to G37...the handles look identical from what I can tell...

Um I am looking at the pics on this site every coupe I see has a keyhole..? What am I missing...

(Maybe setting myself up for a flogging...lol)

WOW, I just checked the pics, and yes they do, I didn't think mine did. I wonder if it matters what type of package you get, or where the car was manufactured...I'm clueless, I had no idea that some of A/C's came with keyholes, to me, that was one of the nice features when viewed from the outside, the handle has no keyhole... oh well, that's why I qualified my first statement above...

All Altima's, coupe or sedan, have the keyhole. They wouldn't have included a hard key in the FOB if they didn't have holes. I guess no one ever used the hard key so they probably never knew a hole existed

So do you have a keyhole, they are like opinions...the funny thing is that I had to think hard about that as well..but anyway that is a good mod and the G's handles look identical...I'd say this is a good mod...nice and clean looking...if my FOB dies oh well, I have a back up if that dies, i'll be back on to take a dumba$$ flogging...but yinz will get a kick out of that anyway! Snowing like a mofo uphere and I can say from the ride home I am digging the VDC again (It saved me many o times in my old Z)...

oh come on, that first comment was barely funny

Hey link, I went to the parts dept. at my dealer and asked them if I could order this part... I even showed him the part on my car, but he was kind of incompetent. In any case, after a bit of searching on the net, apparently, in order to get this piece, he says I have to order the entire door handle for the passenger side, remove the piece I need, invert it, and hope that it works on the driver side! It's only 60 bucks for the handle, but that's a lot of money to cover up something I didn't even notice was there in the first place, ya know !

In any case, the part number is 80606-JA60A ... it may be different for each color vehicle so check on that first!!

I'm tempted to try the Infiniti part... 50/50 it might fit.

Heres a link to a seller on eBay...

Quite expensive. I admit, it looks cleaner but what if you actually need to use the key? Don't really see a point to this aside form aesthetics, which don't bother me.

Dude, I don't even know why you chimed in... completely worthless comment... these forums are meant to assist folks in modifying their cars, not to insult people's ideas for what they want to do..you probably have a bare bones stock Altima...good for you, but for folks that want to modify their cars, just shut up and watch from the sidelines!

Anyway, Tyler ... I just checked with everythingnissan.com, instead of buying the infiniti part for 28.50 + shipping, you can buy the door handle from everything nissan for 34.30... Honestly though, because I never even realized I had a keyhole, for me, it obviously isn't an eyesore, so I just can't rationalize getting it, but if you decide to get it, check everythingnissan.com out first! Let me know if you decide to do it or not!

"just shut up and watch from the sidelines!"

Now you have step over the line.

this forum is for all ideas, whether they are worthwhile or not. Some of the ideas are good and some are not so good. But there is no point in you telling other forum member express the value of modification...that's over the line.

That is a matter of taste & preference, my friend. If you don't think it's such a clever idea, you're welcome to say it's not your cup of tea and leave it at that. I don't think a "smart-***" comment was necessary. It's all how you say it. Peace!!

Look buddy, I'm not telling you to express the value of modification, I'm saying don't ridicule anyone for what they want to do with their car. The guy didn't even ask for folks' opinions... i see you own a civic, don't know if you own an altima or not, but if you did, you'd know that the value in the thread lies in the fact that due to the intelligent key in all '07 & '08 Altimas, you don't need to ever use the actual key, thus if you don't like the keyhole, it doesn't take away function by covering tit (as opposed to your rediculous comparisons of covering tailpipes and painting headlights).

One thing you will find is that at NICO, we don't tolerate trolling or just speaking negatively about folks ideas, choice in rims, mods, etc. I've seen folks get banned from the site for that type of fodder. So in the future, if you don't have anything positive or constructive to add, then it may be best to keep your comments to yourself!
