Hello all,Just purchased a 2009 G37x coupe. We used to have a 2003 G35 coupe. The insurance on the G35 coupe was around $391.00 every six months with $100.00 deductible on collision and $0 for comprehensive. I was just told my State Farm agent that new rate on the G37x coupe will be $921.00 every six months for the same coverage. That's one heck of a big jump. I am 40yrs old with no chargeable accidents and no speeding tickets so I am curious to find out what others are paying and If I need to start looking for a new insurance company. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Raise your deductable. Mine is $1000. I haven't had a claim and I have been driving 38 years. Why pay more on premiums?

Mine is $278.70 every 6 months. 54, perfect driving record.

Most likely it's due to the fact that your car is now brand new, higher resale value, and a higher performance factor in their rating system. A 2003 vehicle is going to be much cheaper to insure than a 2009...you're car is worth more, has higher performance numbers, and people are generally more likely to put in a claim on a new vehicle (statistically). It's just the way of the world - you can shop around, but you are going to find high prices no matter where you go...

When we ALMOST pulled the trigger on a new 2009 G37 Sedan, the insurance was going to go up $26 per month.

That's going from a 2005 G35 sedan to a 2009 G37 sedan.

Your quote looks way off!!

We currently have a group rate for insurance thru our credit union.

I just traded my BMW 335XI coupe for the 09 G37X coupe and my premium went up $110.00. I would have thought it would be the other way around.

We just got a price quote with State Farm and they couldn't beat the prices we are paying now with Central Ins. Company. Check them out!

Vince B wrote:Thanks for all the info. Sounds like I'm getting ripped off. What are the name(s) of some of the insurance companies you are using? I have had claims in the past with State Farm and they are very easy to deal with no hassles at all. I use a particular body shop that has been in business since 1948 and does spectacular work. If I switch Insurance, I will not do so If I can not use that shop exclusively. I have had State Farm for the last 23 years I just can't believe this new premium.........
Not sure about PA, but in CA we are allowed to use ANY shop we choose and the insurance company has to pay them (though they may negotiate the rates).

I'd check Progressive. We've been with them for 2-3 years now and have put through 2 claims and both have been very easy from start to finish with no "attitude" from the company.

Even with both accidents being at fault, we're paying $1080 every six months. Coverage is on the high side 100k-50k-50k or something along those lines with $500 deductibles, medical payments, and uninsured motorist (comprehensive and property). The only thing we don't have is rental car coverage.

Me? No. We were quite happy with the $1080.

When I bought the G, our insurance quote was close to $3000 every six months for less than half the coverage. My wife must have had phone sex with the Progressive agent, because I come back and it went down to $972. The last accident boosted it up $100/6 months.

Hehehe. You're not experienced in manipulating men via phone call? I thought this was a universal female trait J/K.

Oh thanks. I'll learn my way around here one of these days.

Don't think I didn't use this southern accent to my advantage when I used to sell auto parts wholesale on the phone. My northern customers ate it up and I stretched my words out just as far as I could and everybody was Sugar, Sweetie or Honey.
