what is the correct range for idle speed after warmup in park? mine is running at around 850 is that ok?

also can I use regular gas or do i need premium? what happens if i just use regular?

Thanks,

Welcome to Nico.

Your question about gas has been asked many times. You have a G37. The G35/37 manual clearly advises against regular gas for the G37, yet it only recommends against it for the G35. If I were you, I'd not run anything but premium in the 37. (see the owners manual if you have questions)

My 08 G35 idles at about 2000 to start, then quickly drops to about 1200. When it's warm it idles at about 750. As your car breaks in, it will idle lower (I believe).

Welcome to Nico. We pride ourselves on finding the answers to any question you may have.

Welcome aboard!

Congrats on your new ride!

Bob has pretty well summed it all up for you!

You just bought a beautiful car... don't try to cut corners by throwing in cheap gas. Use what's recommended in the manual.

As far as idle... mine is the exact same as Bob's (RN)

Now lets see some pics!!!

Welcome to the club!

Just a little extra food for thought that most don't think about. The difference between the price of premium and regular is typically around 20 cents per gallon. So for a tank of gas (meaning you sucked it dry and it won't move anymore), you'll pay an additional $4.

Your full tank should get you around 300-350 miles unless you're Telcoman (he'll be around shortly to contradict us all ) who magically gets more. So to sum it up, if you drive 1500 miles per month, premium will cost you $20/month or less.

Not really a huge fortune you're saving there.

I run the higher octane in '05 6MT and it still clatters/pings occaisionally on warm days. I tried running the lower octane and the clattering and pinging was nearly constant. I felt like I was grinding the enamel off my teeth, I was so worried about damage. So I can save on gas and pay some nasty dental bills or just buy the higher octane. The choice was simple for me.

Run some seafoam through it.
