hello i have a 2008 g37s and the car does not go over 3500 rpm. It jerks really bad and slows down. It seems like the car is not getting fuel, like a speed governer. It did this when i first purchased the car also. I forgot how I fixed the problem, I think it was because of the alarm. Can anyone tell me if the G37 has a security feature that does not let the car go over a certain rpm? Thanks guys

Are you inferring that you have an aftermarket security alarm with a remote starter feature?

There is the fail safe mode. I keeps the vehicle from revving high to prevent possible damage. Your alarm should be the first thing you check. Whats wrong with the factory alarm anyway?

well the check engine light is on. Could it have switched to fail safe mode because of that and how do I get it out of fail safe mode? Im not sure if its the factory alarm, I dont have an aftermarket alarm with a engine start button.

,this is kind of stupid but disarm you alarm, and disconnect both battery cables and let the car sit for like 5 min this will reset the cpu and all codes etc. dont know if it will work but it worth a try . if there is nothing serious wrong with the car this will prob work, but i would still bring it to the dealer and at least get it diegnosed.

It helps to mention things like 'check engine light is on' when you post about a problem. Take it to a dealer, pay your big bucks, and get it fixed by someone that knows what they are doing.

Yup - and it would also be useful to know the EXACT driving conditions you were enjoying just prior to going into limp mode. Also, do you have any mods?

OP - Do you have a code reader? You can pull the codes and get a real good idea of what is happening before you goback to the dealer.

Should be covered under warranty anyways. Go to the dealer.

There are so many different sensors on the G37 that can trigger limp mode that its hards to say one way or another.

Even though I am not standing next to this car I know it is associated with the reported issues related to the seat belt tensioner. I agree, you can't diagnose a problem such as this without knowing all the parameters associated with it.

It would be interesting to see if this ends up being a similar problem that another poster had with their new 'G' had here awhile back.
