I am a new g37 owner, 2011, and cannot get the cover of the cup holder to close. Can anybody help?

Check and make sure there is nothing blocking it. I'm assuming you are talking about the full cover and not the inner flap?

I checked and could find nothing blocking it. Yes it is the outer cover. Thanks, Gene

Something somewhere has to be blocking it. As per the image below there is simply not that much to it. I would take the console apart so you can see. If it's actually broken then you can get a used on on ebay for a far better price than the dealership.

Thanks for taking the time to answer, I just figured I have written the question wrong. The cover will close it just won't latch.

You will probably need to remove it and check out the mechanism on why it won't lock.
