I have an 08 G37 coupe that I just bought and I love the car but there seams to a leak at the window on the drivers side above the tweeter. I noticed water driping down the inside of the drivers door after a car wash and after our first heavy rain storm. It's only got 20k on it and it's still under the factory warranty (30 days left) when I took it in the dealer said they could not duiplicate the leak. Has anyone ran into this issue?
Thanks and I love the forum lots of good info.

Welcome to NICO

Many inexpensive point and shoot digital cameras take digital video as well as still shots. Take a 30 second video going thru the car wash. You may need additional 12v lighting that plugs into a power outlet to get a good clear video?

Good luck

Thanks for the idea. I spent the day washing and waxing the car and did not have any water inside. I am wondering if it o ly occurs with water driving in from the side. W will see. I will post what I find out.

Could be a clogged drain, bad seals, the window itself, etc. I'm surprised the dealership didn't take the effort to resolve this problem for you under warranty.

I have the same issue, on both sides, with an off-lease, extremely low miles, no accident good dealer history, '09 coupe.

At time of purchase, I noticed a small, 1/2 inch dent just over the passenger side window that didn't appear to be a problem.

There is remaining factory warranty for a few more months, since the mileage is so low.

At first, the dealer ordered and replaced weatherstripping. It didn't solve the problem.

Then, as they looked a second time, they said that the windshield had been replaced with an after market item, and, of course,
was not covered under factory warranty. They offered a windshield at a reasonable price. I decided that if I would have the windshield replaced, that I would also have the small dent repaired. I went back to the body shop of the seller to have both done.

The shop said that the previous window had an overage of sealant, which, they suspected, caused the leak. They replaced the windshield and offered a lifetime warranty on their repair, at no additional charge.

I waited more than 48 hours, as suggested, not allowing rain, etc. on the car. I waited an additional week to send it through the
car wash. Same problem.

I'm a little puzzled as to why both the dealer and the shop returned the car to me without sufficiently checking, with a simple car wash,
to see if the repair had completed the leak repair.

I'm going to return it to the dealer, showing them that the windshield had been replaced. The worst I can do now is to have them ask
me for their windshield replacement, at cost, of course. But, at least in that event, they could not blame any further leaks on someone
else's window replacement, whereas, if I had let them replace the window without repairing the dent, it would have given them another excuse.

Nalley Infiniti figured out the problem.

Regarding the windshield replacement, over each one of the doors, under the trim, there are 'finishers', a 'retainer',
and a 'grill assembly' that must also be replaced, and, very importantly, torqued appropriately to avoid breakage.
It's this breakage that leaves a gap underneath the trim that allows water to drip from the top, down the channel
and into the weathersripping in an area directly behind the mirror, over the tweeter.

I purchased warranty protection from my seller, but, of course, there is wiggle room for exclusions and conditions
that will possibly cost me between 1 & 2 grand, if the warranty guarantor backs out.

This took 3 visits, replacing two kinds of stripping, under warranty, thankfully, and the service tech still
said that he'd never seen this crop up before. The skill of the people replacing the windshield is what
matters most.

It has been my experience that few water leaks are common. There are a few things that may cause a leak in just about any car.

There is always the sunroof drains. They normally collect and runoff the water that bypasses the seal on the sunroof glass. In the fall we tend to see more leaves and debris building up on the track and as it begins to decompose it can collect and clog drains.

The G coupe does not have frames over the windows and the adjustment is very important to ensuring there is no water intrusion or air leaks. A quick check of the adjustment of the windows is to open the door, remove the screw for the door position switch and see where it sits when the car thinks the door is closed. The windows should push the front rubber run up slightly when it is closed. There are specific measurements you can make by that quick check is a good first step.

After market glass can and does leak in many cases. The usual complaint is the floor is wet in the front, and often tends to be a "you get what you pay for" type of situation. When I was a kid I had a Bonneville that rained water from the roof caused by a poorly sealed windshield, that was the last time I cheaped out on glass.

It's so unfortunate that another G37 forum site still has posters fumbling around for a solution to this problem, but, since you cannot post without becoming a 'premium' member, for a fee, the purpose of having a true public 'forum' is somewhat defeated. That makes it a private forum.

I even attempted to become a basic member so that I can send a message to other members, but, their password reset feature doesn't work properly.

So much for value of 'premium' access and the barriers to free exchange of information.
