Will the g37 big brakes work on 08 m35x? Do I need anything extra, or am I good with just the brakes and calipers? What exactly do I need to take off the g37 for it to work on mine?

I don't understand. Do you mean I need bigger rotors...basically get rotors that will fit the g37 and ill be good? Is that a must or recommended?

The whole benefit of the Akebono kit is that you get bigger rotors and better calipers. That being said, you will not be able to use your stock m35 rotors with the calipers from the G37s. You will need to buy stock or aftermarket rotors that are designed for the G37s.

I wasn't even thinking, that's obviously right, thanks to both. I guess I'll take the rotors off the g37 and put them on mine until I can buy the drilled rotors and put on. Do I need to take any hoses or anything else, or am I good with just the calipers, brakes and rotors?

I too am eventually going to get the Akebono bbk. As far as I know heres what you need.
Calipers, new rotors(14") our stock are 12.75", brake lines either SS or G37 stock, pads + hardware most likely step up on a brake fluid to Dot 4 ( we use Dot 3) and thats pretty much it. Dont forget that on the rear you will have to cut out the rotor shield to fit the 14" rotor in.

Why is that rotor shield there in the first place? I would think there is a specific reason since it isn't on the front. Do I have to literally cut it off, or are there bolts holding it there?

I think its there to reduce brake dust. Most people cut it off but I have seen one person heat it up and bend it flat. As for removing it IDK. If you havent bought anything yet sometimes good deals can be found on myg37.com classifieds for this upgrade wether it's rotors, pads, the whole kit, etc. Just so you know you will need the brake lines either OEM or aftermarket for G37s.
