I'm looking very hard at buying a G37 vert - have a few questions. Planning on getting:

G37 Convertible Graphite Shadow/Graphite
Sport Package
Premium Package
Nav Package
Illuminated kick plates
Accent lights
Wind deflector
Optional exhaust

I would want the technology package but it's very hard to find - nearest one is apparently 2300 miles from SoCal I'm told. Is that because it's popular or because it's unpopular?

The black grille - haven't seen the car with it but thinking I would want it - I'm not a fan of most shiny chrome except for tailpipes :)

I wanted the maple interior but again, without ordering it seems hard to find on the convertible sport Graphite Shadow/graphite although the
Thinking of splash guards front and back if they look cool, but not if they are going to bottom out on drainage-dips in the road - we have a lot of those around here.

The spare tire - that fills up the almost non-existent trunk space when the top is down?

Generally, it seems a couple of kids can sit in the rear-seats and maybe adults for a 10-20 minute ride. True?

Can I make price-discussion posts here? I suck at wheeling & dealing on cars, I just don't want to pay way more than I should have (not worried about squeezing the last few bucks out). I want to buy it from the local dealer in Santa Monica because the last one went out of business so I want to support the new dealer if I can. Dealer invoice is about 54k - maybe you can PM me if you can't comment here on the forum.

Thanks in advance. Any and all opinions welcome.

The tech package is relatively rare, probably because of the cost. I wouldn't pay for it, although some of the features are very cool.

Have a friend with an older 'vert. She absolutely loves it, says she'd make the same choice again in a heartbeat. Just empties the trunk when she thinks she'll want to put the top down, but it's a great car with the top up. Single mom, doesn't have issues with two kids in the car.

To get an idea of what to pay, see edmunds.com. They're pretty accurate on invoice cost, you need to factor in any dealer incentives, which they also will show you. Their "TMV" price is a little higher than the best you can do, but is kind of a ballpark for what you don't want to go over.

Hope that helps.

I have a 2011 G37x Coupe and would advise NOT getting the Nav package. The nav system is really lame. Where I live (Maine) many of the roads are missing from the map and it easily gets lost in fairly populated areas (near Portland). I have a portable Garmin which cost about $120 a couple of years ago and it is light-years better. Save your money.

The nav system comes with a rear view camera that is really neat. The computer reads the steering rack position and superimposes the car's projected track on the picture. It works so well that my wife used it to parallel park during our test drive. I consider it to be a rear view system with accessory navigation. If you just want navigation, buy a Garmin or, for $30 from Amazon, Delorme Street Atlas which runs on your laptop.

I currently use a portable Garmin NAV in my RAV4 but can't wait to get a built-in NAV like in my friend's Prius - their's gives you a choice of 3 routes. My Garmin however does allow me to customize the little icon of my car on the screen... :)

To Maineiac: The G NAV is hard-drive based - see if you can get an update, but not surprised about Maine back roads being missing.

I have traffic speed on my iPhone free via Google Maps.

On the nav it really depends on where you live. There was a new section of Interstate that was finished in 2010 and its on my 2010 GPS. Reason a lot of roads are missing and not fixed is b/c no one reports it to navteq. It has to be reported before they fix things. New roads are already added b/c paperwork is sent to the DOT which navteq uses to update new roads. Doesnt always happen.
