The 2009 G37 Convertible will be inspired by the 2008 Coupe version; this means it will combine the same exhilarating performance, stunning styling and modern, sporty interior of the original Infiniti G Coupe.

Under the hood of the Convertible version we will see a 3.7 liter V6 engine with an output of 330 hp and a peak torque of 269 lbs-ft. The engine will be matted with a a choice of an upgraded electronically controlled 5-speed automatic transmission with manual mode, downshift rev matching, DS mode and ASC (Adaptive Shift Control) that allows for quicker shifts in sporty driving situations and available genuine magnesium paddle shifters; or a newly revised, lightweight 6-speed manual transmission.

The G37 Convertible will be build on the FM (Front Mid-ship) platform, which has been stiffened 36% from the previous generation, is lower in overall height and has a wider front and rear track width.

Also there are rumors that Infiniti is working on a more powerful version of the G37: an all-wheel drive, twin-turbocharged version that will have an output of 500 hp. This mean that the 2009 G37 will be even more powerful like a GT-R. So, it will reach at least a top speed of 185 mph and the 0 to 60 mph sprint will be made in less than 4 seconds.

Like the Coupe, the Convertible version will be offered in three different versions: standard, Journey and Sport. The most powerful, and of course the most expensive will be the the Sport version. It will feature 19" wheels, Viscous Limited-Slip Differential (VLSD), sport-tuned suspension, sport brakes, unique front fascia and side sills, sport-styled seats and steering wheel stitching.

That will be very, very nice. I love convertables. I love Infinitis. Only one thing could be better than a vert Infiniti and that would be driving one here...

It's an old article. It was created in July of 2007, even before the G37 coupe went on sale. It's all speculation. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the chances of us seeing a G37 convertible are pretty good, but the writer is way off base about the 500hp G37. He's mixing his speculation with leaks back then about the GT-R.

I hear word from dealers, and other sources that the convertible is going to be the same engine, but just convertible and not much upgrades to it. However, the 500hp, you might be misstaking that wit the 2010 model, TTG37. They are going to bring out a Twin Turbo G37 probably to compete with the GT-R that is going to own a 911 turbo, but highly doubt a TT G37 will keep up with a GT-R.

2009 = convertible g37, no upgrades

2010 = all wheel drive, twin turbo g37

thats the word i hear atm.

My question would be,will the 2008 G37 be able to accept the twin turbo set upseeing how they will be the same engine/Do we know if the Turbo will be air or belt driven?

I'll bet it goes a different direction.This is from the recent announcement of the FX50...Along with its dramatic, aerodynamic body structure and sporty FM (Front Midship) platform, the new FX features a extensive list of available equipment and technology designed to create an exciting and rewarding driving experience – including a new 390-horsepower 5.0-liter 32-valve DOHC V8 or advanced V6 engine (V6 details to be released later), 7-speed automatic transmission with Adaptive Shift Control and available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive.

An enhanced 5.0 with a 6MT or a 7AT would be a really sweet option for the G50 coupe. My money is on a V8 instead of a turbo for the coupe.
