Does anyone know the location of the auto trans dipstick or filler plug on a 2009 G37 sedan 7 speed transmission. The maintenance manual does not specify regular trans fluid change intervals. I usually like to check the fluid level and character of the trans oil regularly. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome to NICO!

I'm sure someone will post up...but if you don't see it then the car might not have one. I know the earlier G35's didn't have a trans dipstick.

According to the service manual there is a drain plug and an overflow plug in the oil pan. I'll look tomorrow.

I was looking for it too, but the service manual does not indicate any.

I was wondering how long it was going to take to see this question come up.

The RE7 doesn't have an external dipstick. There is a specific procedure that is required to check the fluid but should not be necessary. I remember reading something about measuring the rate at which the fluid drips from the hole is used to calculate the fluid level. It is designed to be life fluid. Although I would have someone check it every 30k or so unless you notice a leak. Jatco did allot of research in updating the very reliable RE5R05A and early results with the RE7 are positive, even in our loaner fleet.

is it a 10mm bolt thats attached to a black cap with a metal arm? it looks like a dip stick tube and im guessing that you need to remove the bolt to check the fluid level? this vehicle is a 2008 g35xs... thanks
