For stopping power you might want to go with metallics. Downsides are (relatively) short life; noise, lots of dust; and they need to be warmed up to provide the best results. There are some good ones from Hawk and Raybestos. Be warned that on the street under normal driving your stop distance will be longer because the pads won't be hot enough most of the time.
