I'm sure this is a common question, and admittedly I only tooled around a about 5 minutes for the answer, but what are the alternatives for factory service?
I know it sounds silly, I should just go to a local shop, right? But I don't know. I have 2008 G35x and the dealers want $350-$400 for 15,000 mile service. It's just oil and filter, in-cabin filter, wipers, rotate tires and inspect parts. I figured I would check with the experts for any advice before I gave my car to a random shop.
Service will be performed either near Allentown/Bethlehem PA or near Morristown, NJ if anybody knows a good shop.
Thanks in advance!

Oil & Oil filter changes are very easy to do. An air filter change takes less than 10 min and a cabin filter change can be done in less than a half hour.I rotate my tires while doing an oil change. Also very easy to do.The fiberboard shroud underneath the vehicle has about 14 10mm bolts that are easy to remove with a cordless drill with a 1/4 in drive socket adapter. An investment in a couple of hundred dollars in tools and some of your time will save you thousands of dollars. Why anyone would want to pay shop rates as high as $120 hr in some places is beyond me.Do you think an independent shop is going to replace all 14 bolts on that shroud? You can search on this site for instructions on changing the air & cabin filters.
As far as oil disposal, any place that changes oil is required to take it. I use plastic 2 & 3 qt orange juice containers and leave them on Pep Boys doorstep early Sunday mornings.
My air filters get pretty dirty after 8 or 9k miles and run about $10.00
