So I took my G37 in this weekend for service and they tossed me the keys to an '08 G35x 5AT. I must admit, I really enjoyed driving it. The sedan has amazing pick-up and rides extremely smooth, I was very impressed with it. The only thing I wasn't too keen about was how the transmission seems to take some time to downshift when you mash on the gas.

All in all I'll give it a solid 9 out of 10, trying to get my g/f to go buy one now

Yep,

The auto gets used to how you drive it an remembers your driving style. Mine doesn't have any lag when go pedal goes down.

The loaners get so many different drivers and driving styles they probably are in learn mode all the time.

My auto doesn't lag even when driven in manual mode. I'll shoot some video if I can find a brave enough passenger. When I shift in manual mode the shifts are so fast you can feel and hear the drive train bang on each shift.

With all of the new big brother devices available, I'd be careful with newer rental cars.

Someone supposedly got a ticket for speeding in a rental car because the car had a tracking/GPS/Big Brother gizmo on it.

I too enjoyed driving the G35X loaner. My 04 M45 was in for the 60K and i had the 2007 g35x for about 5 days. Maybe we can brainstorm on the new car discussion with the g/f

Don't know about Indiana, but in WA stste, the third transmission makes it a lemon (lemon law) and you can get a full refund on the sale, or have that money applied towards a new one.

yeah, the requirements are different here. the car has to be in service for over 30 days, under 18k miles, and under 18 mo old. im at 17k right now and not at 30 days, so i probably cant do it.

Believe me, I did. I beat that thing to hell and back. Only thing I couldn't do with it was burn some rubber. Turned off the traction control and power braked that thing at every stop and couldn't even get a chirp out of it.
