I bought my G35x less than a month ago. We got four to six inches of snow last night. Going down my first hill (less than 20 mph), I pressed the brakes and could no longer steer. I had to use the old-fashioned method of releasing the brakes to steer and reapplying them when I was headed in the right direction. This would seem to indicate that my ABS doesn't work even though there is no light on the dash saying there's a problem. Short of taking it to a mechanic who'll probably hook up a diagnostic reader that asks whether everything is okay (and "okay" will probably be the answer since there's no light on the dash), what can I do to figure out whether ABS is working short of looking for another slippery hill to drive down?

Welcome to NICO! Glad you made it down the hill without damaging your G! Did you feel the pedal pulsate?

If it's ice, nothing will stop a 3,500 lb vehicle from stopping. To test the system, find a parking lot or street that is clear of ice and snow and try to lock-up the brakes. You should hear the tires screeching in blips...not one solid sound.

Thanks. At first, I thought I felt the pulsing (but I was expecting it when I wasn't slowing down as quickly as I'd anticipated), but then I noticed I couldn't steer . It wasn't the lack of stopping that bothered me, but the lack of steering. My previous car was a 300M. I could definitely feel the pulsing and I could still steer when the ABS was activated. I guess I can test for the pulsing on just about any surface if I'm going fast enough to lock up the brakes. I'll try that. (Where's the preview button?)

Any update?

Infiniti is just a bit better than your 300M
