G35X 5 Speed A/T

Quick question regarding my 2005 X...I've noticed that if I flip it over to the manual mode after cruising along in automatic (I'd guess anywhere from 40mph+) the transmission automatically flips back down to 4th. It's clear it was in 5th while cruising along in automatic mode so why would it do this? Is this standard (making me an idiot) or is it something I should have checked out? I do believe the manual says the transmission is always in 5th at cruising speeds and mine definitely is in 5th when in automatic mode....just curious about why and if it should be slipping down to 4th when I flip over to manual?

EDIT-I tried that nifty search function and it seems I may just be dumb...sounds like to go from D to M5 you'd have to be ignoring those speed limit sign thingys...

yeah my 05 g35x automaticly goes to 4th if you throw it into maunal mode while cruising... or it'll drop to 3rd.... depending on what gear you currently in... it looks like it was programed to go to the next lowest gear... i personally like that...

Yours was actually the post I found using the search...I'm just glad it wasn't messed up because I think I have already pissed 1 of 2 Infiniti dealerships in the state off!

Yeah that is normal and love it.

mine isn't an X but it does the same thing...5 down to 4

i beleive that there is a top speed where this won't downshift into 4th, but i've never played enough to know. I have heard its around 80 mph.
