Car was running great last night, but this morning (kinda Cold) my car wouldn't start. It just kept clicking and losing power. An electrical short somewhere.

I tried to jump it but that only resulted in some sparks and flashes. I hope I didn't burn out anything. I tried a voltmeter on the battery, but nothing registered.

Has anyone else seen this issue and have any idea where to start looking. I'm thinking wherever the sparks came out. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to NICO!

I would say that 99% of the time, not starting is due to the battery. What you need to do is take off the terminals (starting with the negative), and clean them with a wire brush. Make sure to also clean the connectors. Now, reconnect (positive first) and try again. If the car still doesn't start, get a new battery. If you have an 03 it's time to get a new one anyway...I'd hate to be stranded in the winter.

Try this, and let us know the result!

Sparks? ouch.....definitely sounds like a short of some kind. I'd follow your positive cable down to the starter and make sure there's still rubber on it everywhere and it isn't touching anything. Where did the sparks come from? Or did you not see exactly cause you were in the car starting it and just saw em fly up. I've heard of sparks flying from the alternator too, but haven't seen in person. All I'd know to do is check all your wires if you see sparks flying. If there weren't sparks then it could be the usual....dead battery, starter, alternator, fuse, clutch safety switch, ya know...basic stuff like that. Good luck....hopefully someone with more electrical skills than myself will chime in soon

might want to take battery to autozone to get it tested. After cleaning the posts..... Don't know how many folks I've met in parking lots with a dead battery and all I did to get them going was cleaning their battery. After owning Fords, I keep a tool box in my trunk at all times.....just habit.
