Post

Hello all,

I'm in middle of a vk45de /cd009 swap on my G35 coupe, and had a few questions.

A little background A couple weeks ago I went to a JDM engine importer here in Houston (JDM King Motors) to get a 1UZ to swap into a Chrysler Conquest. However, while at the place, the owner started showing me a 2006 G35 Coupe Revup with a bad engine that he had for sell. Of course the wheels start turning on what I could do with this car. We finally settled on a price ($1,200!). So instead of coming hoe with an engine, I brought another car home. The wife was trilled..... My initial thought was to just rebuild, but no, I had to take the path less traveled. The next day, I when back an picked up a JDM VK45DE w/auto trans, ecu, and wiring for $1,100 and a spare CD009. The engine is configured like a '03-'04 M45 engine. Here is a list of the stuff I'm using for the swap.

JDM VK45DE
CD009
'06 M45 harness
'06 M45 ECU
'06 M45 Throttle body - slightly larger that the one the engine came with
Collins VH41DE adapter plate - it bolts to the JDM VK45de with the starter on the driver side.

This brings me to my questions:

1) When I bought the adapter plate from Collins, he said to use the Z33 flywheel/clutch. I then read where people are bolting the flywheel on top of the flex plate so you have the proper spacing for the trigger wheel, and the bellhousing does not need to be machined. This does not work. The trigger wheel on the flex plate hits the triggerwheel on the z33 flywheel. The I read to use the z32 n/a flywheel. Before I spend any more money buying parts, I can't use, I figured I would ask.

What are people doing for a flywheel/clutch when doing a vk45 to a cd009?

2) The on the VK45 the crank sensor is at the 7 o'clock position (forward looking aft-FLA) and bolts to the bellhousing. On the cd009 the crank sensor mounting hole is at the 5 o'clock position (FLA).

What are people doing for this? Drilling a different mounting spot for the crank sensor on the cd009 bellhousing, or making a new trigger wheel and mounting it to the crank pulley?

I guess that's it for now. Thanks in advance for any help.

Sid
