I love both cars so much, and getting to the point of which one to buy is getting hair pulling.

I just wanted to hear some of your opinions. I know it will be g35 baised becaused obviously this is a G35 forum, but just looking

anything you have to say is great!

hmm funny this should come up i was watching tv about two nights ago and they had a test between g35 skyline 330ci and a rx-8 could of been an old show but anyhow 330ci had horrible handling at highway speeds although power wise it was up to par with the rest . . . at the end it was not comparable to either the rx-8 or g35

obviously the G outscored both but no need to get into all that

Well, as a female here, my views my diverge from the testerone flavor that will soon float in to give you their views on power and speed (mainstays of the forum for many). I always look for the practical aspects of a car, and reliability is one of the main ones for me. BMW's as a whole (not all of them) have seen a serious decline in this area. Consumer Reports, Consumer Affairs and other reviewers have over the past several years rated most European cars as well below Japanese and even some American models. For example, the 330ci has had a history of transmission problems in the earlier models (not sure about the more recent ones).

My take is that if you want to be on a first name basis with a mechanic and you're not bothered by the the free Mercury Sable rental the garage will give you as they repair your car, then I'd go for the smoother, possible faster, possibly sportier and more ego-satisfying BMW.

The 330ci isn't faster than a G35. If compare transmission for transmission a 2005 330ci automatic 0-60 is estimated to be around 6.8 seconds while its manual counterpart is estimated to be 6.2 seconds. I have an automatic and my fastest time I have seen is 6.1 second 0-60 time and I have an 03 sedan. As far as sportier, well thats a bit to relative of a concept to refute or argue unless it is defined in terms of handling, braking and quickness, which in all three categories the G undeniable comes out on top. If there was anything to argue (which is still subjective because it would be a matter of look and feel) would be styling and handling. Basically, it all comes down to what is important to you--- a name, perfomance, reliability or price. I have an 03 automatic sedan with 72,000 miles on it and the only thing that I or the dealership has ever done to it was change out the fuel lines which was a factory recall and follow the maintance schedule with the addition of using only sinthetic oils for engine and transmission.

When I first purchased my G35, my boss at a 330i ZHP with the M package at the time. Prior to the G35 I had a WRX that outperformed his 330i in every regard and the G35 just left it behind. Road feel, suspension, steering, shifting...everything felt better in the G35. He has since moved on to a 335i...still a soft, squishy, sloppy ride but at least is has some oompf!

Save your money & buy a mustang!!

Have you driven both? Without a saleman??

I think that you'll find that most folks here love their G's (sedans & coupes)

I used to own a BMW

I loved it. Great handling, Great on corners, fun to drive, fast....

What i did not love was the bill at the mechanics. Parts are extremely expensive and labor costs are more as well. In addition, it seems like you only drive your car 3 out of 4 weeks since its in the shop.

After driving an 03 335i and an 01-02 525i, I don't think I'll ever touch another Bimmer again.

They both felt very top heavy. Lots of HP, but no torque. Both auto trannies shifted harsher than my I30's with 270k miles on it (both bimmers had under 80k).

The interior styling was a reminder of why we left the 80s.

Even my wife thought the cars were horrible and didn't want to budge from her passenger seat. She just asked me to drive back to the dealership.

The 335i wasn't produced in 2003...perhaps you drove a 330i? The 335i is the only BMW I have driven that actually feels like it had torque...but everything else about it is so bleh.

I have only driven a BMW once, and i will say that it is refined and fun. However, it is not as much fun to drive as a 350Z or a G-35 Coupe. Every day I drive my coupe, especially with the mods on, its as if I am possessed. No other car in my life has ever made me go crazy in it. The G-35 Coupe or 350Z may not be as refined as the BMW, but it is truely a driver's car---it allows you to feel the road in its rawness, and allows you to hear a raw engine sound, and it loves to rev. The G-35 Coupe or 350Z is not a real car. I call it a toy-- a really expensive and powerful toy. Totally sick and unreal!

The G35 should spank a 330. The BMW will 'feel' well like a BMW. Heavy, solid, substantial feel to everything. The G isn't a cheap feeling car but its no BMW. The G will cost you far less in the long run, deliver better performance at a cheaper cost.

The 335 is a better comparo to the G

thanks for all the opinions.. Really helping me out actually...

I have been around BMW's my life, an ill admit there nice cars, dad with an M6 and my mom with an X5. I really like the 330ci but they seem so small. I like the feel of the G35 and its, well wouldn't say bulkiness, but just the sound gets me alone. im sure as well with others

I've owned several BMWs and never really had any problems with them until I hit 100K. You could always get a CPO'd car and get a 100k warranty if your worried about reliability. I really like the 330. It's a little underpowered, but it does feel more solid. I really like the power in the G35 and picked it over the 330. The 335 is much more of a comparison.

I seem to remember the early G35s having engine consumption problems.

We've got a lot in common.

My dad had a datsun pickup before I was born. Since then, he's had at least 5 other nissan trucks. My mom started with her I30, and is now on her second QX4.

I took the I30 and now have my G35 coupe. I just need to convince my wife's family to convert from their Toyota origins.

My wife HAD to have her Celica. Otherwise I would have put her into a G20 or an M35 if we could afford it.
