I am wondering how the G's perform up top..... The best way and comparitive way I know is 50-80 times, heres how you do that.....

Start at 40 mph, punch it... Start your stopwatch once you hit 50, and then stop it at 80..... You should do about 3-5 of these runs and average them to get a better number....

For comparison, my 94 Q45 (with 125,307k) runs a solid 5.5 seconds.

I am just wondering how the Gs are up top, im sure they are pretty good....

The problem with the G,M, Q with 5/6 speeds is a shift from 2nd to 3rd is required in the 50-80 mph run vs the older 4 speeds AT which don't have to shift till 90-96 mph.

The secret advantange in the 50-80 mph [even 90 mph] runs, even the 6 speed G35/350z coupe is at a disadvantage.

At 50 mph your 94Q is 3575 rpm in 2nd [around 715 rpm per 10 mph].

Pretty easy to keep up or outrun [slightly - a car length] all these till your 94 has to shift assumming it is in tip top condition.

My 90 Q isn't significantly better the same test does 5.3 seconds at <50F at 1.000' AMSL......might do 0.1 sec better at sealevel.

If you are driving a z or g at 50 and want to accelerate you usually will shift to third in a 6mt and then you can go all the way to 80 without shifting. I will check the rpm's just to make sure tonight but the 50 to 57 acceleration is wasted in second gear because of the extra shift.

let you know in a ocuple hours.
