Wife drives a 2004 G35X, and we have a TPMS alarm that goes off anytime the ambient temps drop below 45F. Last time we visited the dealer the serivce writer told me there is no fix except to raise the tire pressures a few PSI. Did not have this problem of course until we moved to Colorado and cooler winters.

I cannot find any information on what I can do with this system to either correct this false alarm how to deal with it other than raising the PSI. I am a technician by trade, formerly a Ford Master Tech and do not have the scanner capabilities to turn off the dang light. We have an OTC TPMS tester at the shop, but I have not tried it yet and don't know if it will turn off the alarm. In my 20 years with Ford I did not see this problem with the Ford TPMS, but then we were in California then, and this car only set the alarm a couple times during cold winters (cold for CA, anyway).

Here in CO this thing goes off everytime the temps drop, and the audible alarm for it is pretty annoying. Warning light stays on, apparently the dealer is the only place that can reset it, but it will come on again soon as we are into fall weather.

Anyone know of a work around besides raising the tire pressures, which really messes with the ride quality. Thanks for allowing into the forums, I will have to spend time when I can exploring the topics and such. Thanks.

Tire engineers know that psi drops 1 psi for every 11F decrease.Tire engineers know that cold psi should be checked every week and adjusted for the expected range that week.

If you maintain 35 psi cold it would take a 66F drop to reach 28 psi.

I have never checked tire PSI weekly. Doing that around here it would be almost daily.......one day can be 40s, the next can be 70s.

While I think I understand your statement, it sure doesn't make sense to me that when they engineered this system provisions weren't included for temperature changes.

I have checked these tires in cold weather and they are not more than 2-3psi different from a warm day, if that. So the tolerance must be pretty tight on the TPMS.
