I don't think you'll get a very good response to this thread. Actually, I think you'll get some flaming. Kind of like the guy who wanted to do the GTR body kit on his G35.

My personal opinion, the G35 coupe looks great as it is. I've seen 1...maybe 2 bodykits that have improved it's lines, but trying to Frankenstein a G to look like the front of a Z is blasphemous. I see it as being no better than some of the Civic "G35 conversion" rear ends.

I'm not trying to flame you, so please don't take it as that.

point well taken I just wanted to know if they were interchangable seeing they r built on the same platform. not to be said "this would be a sick swap" I know the wheels r interchangable and the motors r the same. some people don't like to admit it but the g35 is the 2by2 version of the Z33. but it's also the base for the Skyline gtr as well just as all other skylines were offered in this fashion. you know, skyline gt, gts, gts-4, etc.

The problem with the statement "they r built on the same platform" is that the FX, M, and I think EX are all built on the same platform with a variant of the same VQ35.

All Front Mid-ship. All RWD. All with the VQ35DE or VQ35HR. But if you said the Z33 and the FX were the same car, people would laugh at you.

Nissan ran into some serious problems back in the late 90s and early 2000s when the American public realized that most of the Infiniti line were just upgraded versions of the Nissan line (Maxima=I-series, G20-Sentra, QX4=Pathfinder). Around 02/03 they made a change to have the two separate lines of vehicles to avoid the same issue.

So even though, they share platforms, the body styling, and seating configuration were kept different. My understanding is that the Infiniti line still holds slightly better quality too (ergo the super extended warranty).

Of all the cars that share the platform - the Z and G Coupe are the closest relation in terms of size, styling, performance, etc.. The they are basically 2 and 4 seat versions of the same car.

Does anyone rmember when the Z came as a 2 seater or a 4 seater. The 4 seater of course being a little softer around the edges - in terms of engine tuning, handling etc.

I agree with jbrs

Fast forward to today - you can see the 2 seat - 4 seat rear drive sports coupe is the Z/G. The G by being the premium brand is tuned a little milder, handles a little softer, may have some more sound deadening - but they are essentially the same car. Remember the first reports in 2001/2 of the upcoming Nissan Sports Coupe platform - and its variants.

Yes, I realize they are the closest vehicles that Nissan and Infiniti have, but the point is that they aren't the same car. The G is 6" longer than the Z. It weighs about 200lbs more. It has different outter diameter tires...etc.

The 350Zs are supposedly not built as well either. This information comes from a service tech that spent 10 years working for Nissan and 2 working for Infiniti.

Someone posted a pic of a 240 (silvia?) with a 350z front and a G35 rear. So anything is possible given the will and the dollars - I wouldnt be surprised if someone has tried switching clips on the 350z or G.

Good Luck.
