I've been looking at some of the old post and I don't see much on suspension mods. What are some of the popular suspension mods you G35 guys have done and what were the results of the upgrade? Was it a worth while improvement? Did it make the ride too harsh? Thank you for your time.

From what I have read most people seem to be going with either the TEIN H-Tech or the RSR springs. If I remember correctly, the H-tech will allow the car to be lowered up to 1" and will also slightly increase understeer, there should be more stiffness added in the front than the rear. Whereas the RSR should almost eliminate understeer, but will create some problems with the stock shocks. Both will allow a nice drop of .3"-1" which I think will make the car look a little better. Quite a few people are also going with the TEIN basics, which I don't know much about.

I'm not sure as to how much help sway bars are going to be on the car with a stock suspension. The stock ride is pretty decent in my opinion.

We sell A TON of the Tein S-Tech coils and the Eibach Pro-Kits. I have heard very good things about both. The Eibach kit will give you a tighter ride without the harshness of the lowering factor. The Tein S-Tech's will drop you more but you're going to feel more of the road. I wouldn't mess with a coilover kit unless you are really putting looks and performance before luxury. Another tip, if you do go with a Tein coilover kit you should also do the EDFC option, it allows you to electronically adjust height & dampening. Check out the following links:

The spring stiffness should be set at the weight ratio [for example] if the loaded weight is 54/46 front to rear, that should be the ratio of spring stiffness, THEN you create the under, neutral, oversteer ratios with the front and rear sway bars.

Rather than waste money on lowering just install a 40-60% stiffer ADJUSTABLE rear sway bar and leave the rest alone [don't mess with front]. That will increase the sum of rear spring and bar stiffness by ~~ 20-25% which will shift the [46/54=0.85/2=0.43 x 20-25%%=] {stiffness ratio} 8.5%-10.75% [understeer ratio shift more rearward towards neutrality].

This simple change [<$250] will make the G35 change its personality.

People make the mistake of installing a stiffer front bar/springs and make matters worse as the front bar is already gigantic. A front bar just takes away traction in turns helping to over load the front tires.......same with stiffer front springs to a lesser degree.

Gotta be careful with stiffer springs as many are rear progressive which creates less understeer as the body rolls more and more..........you can arrive at a oversteer situation in wet weather [cool rain] in emergency situations.

If you just care about lower looks and not real gains just go with Eibach springs and leave the rear bar as is!

I recommend you buy a used 350z suspension for 150-200 bux from the guys at http://www.my350z.com. this will give you a fairly dramatic change. from that minimal investment or from Q45 tech's advice. I like his advice in this case, IF you don't want the lowered look. A lot of G owner's will not want to lower their car.

I have the Z suspension on my car and have had it for about 15,000 miles now.

either one of these presents minimal investment and allows you to decide afterwards if you want to go more or less.

benefits of the adjustable sway bar: it is adjustable, and does not lower your car

benefits of the Z suspension: shock valving is more aggressive, lowers car, cheaper.

the adjustable sway bar has no drawbacks

the z suspension may be too firm and promotes mild porpoising on rough roads. but you can take it off and go back to stock in about 3-4 hours.
