I was wondering if there was a kit out there for installing a new deck. I have researched it and i cant seem to find anything out there for it yet and i was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem, also if any has actually put any aftermarket system in their ride, any help would be greatly appreciated. One more thing, can anyone tell me speaker specs

Check these guys out:

http://www.grubbsperformance.c...70078

They sell a double-din console conversion from Japan that includes the AC control board that has to be moved ($300 for the kit). I guess the head deck shares a common circuit board with the AC controls, and removing just the deck will trigger the cars security system...like anyone would want to steal the thing anyway...

Do a search in the audio board for pics on other cars...

You should also realize that with the DD conversion, you will lose the Dual Climate Control functionality. If you look carefully, you'll notice the button is not on the new climate control panel. I have heard of people adding the button back in using the one of their old panel.

re-did my system except head unit. had Bose in it..put JL Audio Clean Sweep in, then ran that 2 2 JL amps (450/4 for inside speakers, 500/1 to pair of 10" subs)sounds far improved

I also modified my system by changing the speakers and the amp (Bostons up front; Diamond 6x9s in rear; Diamond Amp). Sounds 100% better but it's not perfect.

The problem, as most of us have learned, is that the stock head unit has a variable EQ built into the volume control, so depending on how much you turn it up, it changes the tone setting. I'm still considering getting an Audio Control trunk-mount eq to help with the weird mid-range issue that occurs at certain levels, but I'm still undecided. Would loved to have simply replaced the HU with a better one, but didn't want the headaches that go along with it--not to mention I don't trust anyone up in my area do do that type of surgery on my new car.

For my set-up, I kept the bose HU too. MTX has a new line of amps that can use speaker level inputs as a source...so I disconnected the rear midbass speakers from the back seat, and soldered the RCA jacks on. Sounds great, and I don't need the JL's cleansweep, or audio controls' A6 processor! But, this was to add a subwoofer to the car, not to replace the bose speakers (which sound ok...).

All in all the cost was 2k for the amp, 2 MTX 10s, and fabrication/install/dynomat. This way, I can enjoy better sound now, and upgrade the rest later (another 2k...). Here's a link to my setup:

So I have been looking at the double din upgrade and have a few questions...

So assuming I want to just add a new head unit, is their a wire harness that is plug and play? If not, how hard is it to splice the wires?

If I also decide to add new speakers, how do I bypass the bose amp? Looking in my manual, the amp is near the rear window... Do all the speaker wires run from the HU, all the way to the back and then go to each location? How would you bypass this without running new speakers throughout?

Also, lets say I wanted to upgrade the speakers and still run through the bose amp and use a 3 way 6.5" in the front doors. Looking at the wiring diagram, it looks like the stock speaker and tweeter are spliced from the same wire (no cross over). Would I just put in the new speaker and disconnect the old tweeter? Also, how do you think it would sound using an aftermarket HU and speakers running through the stock Bose amp (compared to HU strait to speakers)?

OK. There are a few options for you.

1. Replace the HU, keep the bose amp/speakers-this can be done with a simple adapter.

2. Replace the HU, speakers.-To do this, you need to run wires from the new HU to the new speakers. I wouldn't recommend you use the factory wires.

3. Replace the HU, speakers, amp.-This would be the best sounding solution...but also the most work/expense.

Wait, option 2 in the most work, HU, new wires & speakers. Has anyone tried option 3, New HU and speaker but keeping the old wires and factory amp?

IMO, if you are going to get an aftermarket HU you might as well use that to push your in cabin speakers. If you are going to upgrade those speakers, then I would suggest an aftermarket 4-channel amp.

I have aftermarket everything for the stereo. I don't like the BOSE.
