I have a question for the owners of the 2004 G35.

I am in college and I am looking to buy the G35 with the navigation system. I like to drive fast and impress the girls. Will this car take car of those needs as well as be dependable and worth the money?

Let me know your thoughts.

A car like that in college will get you the wrong kind of attention (spoiled brat). The girls will think you're desperate.

I thought that until I got here. Almost everyone has a nice car. a good friend of mine even drives a escelade. Is the G35 fast dependable and safe? if not, do you have any other cars in mind?

Yes, the G is fast, dependable and safe. But if I were you I would get the coupe instead of the sedan. It is faster and looks better.

it is not faster but rydwhite is right it does look better. The sedan is the exact same performance wise as the coupe, but you can get 4 or more girls in the sedan and only 3 in the coupe.

enjoy and while you are looking look at a used one, there are many sedans out there for 20 someting and even a few coupes in that range.

I am pretty sure that the coupe is faster. The coupe has more hp at 280 to the sedan's 260. I know that more hp does not make performance necessarliy better though. The coupe is putting 270 lb-ft of torque and the sedan 260. The coupe is goverened at 155mph and the sedan at 146mph. If I remember right, I may be wrong, but the coupe had faster 0-60 times also. I think that their 1/4 times were both at about 14.4 though. So, it is all minor performance differences, but the coupe is actually a little quicker, not that you would really ever notice it.

in addition to the HP and torque differences, is there not a weight difference as well between the coupe and the sedan? I would suspect the sedan to be a couple hundred lbs heavier and this would likely have more to do with teh performance numbers than the minor disparity in power.

I am going to school in Florida and i was wondering if anyone has any suggests or comments on window tinting. is there a good place? how dark should i go? i am not a gangster but the sun is really a pain down here especially with leather.

i am leaning towards the desert platinum exterior. the black would just get too hot in Florida and that is the closest color. any ideas?

I had a really dark tint on my (former florida) car.But I found it really limited my ability to see at night more than one would think ( and my night vision is real good)

My advice:Dont go too dark .

Absolutely agreed! On my 1995 Q45, I had my rear windshield done at 90% (blocking), and it made it tough at night - for both me and my wife. On my wife's car, we went 50% and it was a far better result.

I have legal tint for California on the drivers and passenger windows. I put one shade darker on the back window. I am happy with it!

Its a great system. If you spend a alot of time in the snow belt probably a good idea.In Florida I'd prefer RWD for its purity though.

Also, RWD cars can be as good as SUV's in the winter if you just throw on a set of Blizzaks, or similiar premium snow/ice tire ( not the same as all season tires, snow/ice tires will desintegrate in FL heat)
