I been reading all kinds of posts (regarding the installation of a 350z midpipe on a G35 sedan) from various infiniti/Nissan forums and have came across people mentioning the installation process, also I have seen it on some peoples sigs. What are the differences in having a '03 G35 sedan and '03.5 G35 sedan and same goes for the 2004.

There have been some people who have not had to make any modifications when installing the midpipe and have great success. And then there have been those who have had to bend the heat shield and cutting and welding a crossbar. Some people who had the was of direct swap out had the 03's and 04's and then the cutting and welding people had the 03.5's and 04.5's (or visa versa, I can't remember). Well I just got mine in today, and was quoted $50 for the labor, now I'm not sure if my car would have the heat shield and crossbar issue.

How can you tell if you have a .5 or not?

The swap was a direct bolt on for me and I had to bend the heat shield out of the way just so slightly. The other issues you speak of I have never heard of. The only difference between those years were aesthetic, 03 had doggy door on outside of trunk, 04 didn't. 04 got a six speed sport, 03 didn't have a manual option.

Normally 1/2 year increments were cars built mid part of that year. Look on the inside of the driver side door for manufacture date. If it was early 02, it is a 03 model, if it was built mid 03 it s 03.5. Late 03 date, it is a 04.

2003-2004 5AT have a different valve body and TCM vs the 2004.5 and newer. 2004.5 TCM is integrated into the transmission and valve body. 2003-2004 have the TCM located under the passenger kick panel.

Also, the 350Z midpipe is not a direct fit. It needs an extension. the G35 coupe midpipe is a direct swap. The only modification necessary is bending the heat shield of the driveline a ltitle bit.
