Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum and I don't know much about cars. I drive a blue 2003 G35 Sedan. I just reached 15,000 miles and a friend recommended me to use the Mobil1 synthetic oil. I did the first synthetic oil change today at Jiffy Lube and on my sticker, they wrote that I should have another change at 3,000 miles. I know that synth. is supposed to give me more mileages than that but I don't know how much. Can someone please tell me how long do I have to go now before my next oil change? I drive about 40 miles everyday to and from work. Sorry if I wrote too much the first time. Thanks, Jo.

I always recommend every 3-4months with synthetic regardless of how many miles you do.. Just dont let it get out of control.. 90 days is a good way to go by, 4 oil changes per year is reasonable even with synthetic... however if your like me and dont drive a lot i still go the whole 3000 miles...... NOt the case for you though!

Welcome to NICO... Hope you enjoy your stay!!!

My infinity salesman was a Nissan mechanic for a number of years. He said if I put synthetic in my G I can go 7,500KLM's without a worry. 5,000klm's with dino oil.

What many people do, includeing me. is that I change the filter at 2500-3000 miles, but without draining the oil! And just add about 1/2 QT back into it and change it when it hit 5000-6000 total which is for me about 4-5 month!

In general, changing oil often is more important than using synthetic. If you do not want to pay the higher cost of the synthetic, then use a good dino oil and change it every 3000 to 4000 miles (filter too!) and you will be just fine. I'd rather recommend that, than go for very long periods (miles or time) with synthetic.

These were essentially the words of a good oil expert here some time back!

FWIW, I use Mobil 1 0W-40 synthetic in my cars and change every 3750 miles regularly without fail. I'd do the same with a good dino oil (Castrol GTX 10W-30 or Chevron Supreme 10W-30 work well in warmer climates like the Bay Area) and wouldn't be concerned - but I use the synthetic since I can afford it (and, yes, I recognize that not everyone can do so).

Its also really depend on how you drive, weather! If you drive like me, which don't drive it like you stole it! then I think with Dino you can wait till about 4000 miles! But if you are like many people, which are red light to red light racer then. I would say 3000 MAX! Also reason why I only change my filter at 3000 is because 1 of them has a guy that is a chem engineer and he did the 3000 miles change filter and add whatever it needed, when he drain the oil out and did a chem test on it. The Mobil 1 still had I think he said 70-80% of it chem in it! The car was his daily driver and I think it was a VW VR6! I forgot the Address of the site!Sorry I can't spell! LOL

On the G35 I change the oil and filter at 3200 miles! But the 240SX I do the Above!
