99,504 of the combined G35 models [34,185 coupes] have been sold thru end of Dec 2003 since model launch. vs 7,300 of the 2002-2003 Q45; 5765 M45. More than twice as many M were sold this year than Q45.

A total of 729,812 Infiniti cars have been sold since 1989 and 149,876 truck based units This year alone of 32,628 truck based vehicles 27,637 were FX units.

Infiniti sold [120,000] 30,751 more units this year than last which was 16,539 more than 2001.

Growing pains are to be expected and more than the current 165 dealers will be required.

There are just over 300 BMW dealers in US selling 230,000 unitsLexus sold 235,000 units in 2002.MB sold 213,000 units in 2002.

Nissan makes tons of money in the Japanese market. Skylines and Sylvias are the Civic/Integra of japan...all the ricers have them. Nissan has tons of nice SR20DET powered vehicles in japan that they refuse to bring over here. Infiniti doesn't have to worry about bankrupcy cuz big brother Nissan has a solid foundation.

Infiniti sold 70,973 cars and 16,938 trucks in 2002. 2003 sales were up with 86,207 cars and 32,628 trucks. Last month the G35 Sedan was king of the Infiniti lineup followed by the Coupe and then the FX.

Conversly, Nissan sold 201k Altimas last year and the year before The king of all Nissans and Infinitis :D

Infinitis are Nissans. "Infiniti" is a marketing tool for North America. All Infinitis are rebadged JDM Nissans except perhaps for the J30 in as much as the interior was designed in California. Still a Nissan J Ferie JDM. (If only the JDM V8 version had been offered in NA. sigh...)

Although, I would suppose Nissan has to make the decision about how many premium JDM Nissans get converted to LHD.

Have you looked at used G35 prices? better off buying new. The G holds it's value very well. I think that is so because the G is a class leader. The Q on the other hand is the underdog when compared with the other car makers. When they redesign the M, who knows...but right now, it's too quirky of a car. Have you seen the resale value for Saabs? Very quirky cars....very low resale value.

I thought the new Qs were pretty solid..... Same with the M..... Minus the ECU reprogramming, am I missing something....

I think mainly its because of the demand.... The G35 is the car that EVERYONE wants from infiniti..... People havent really discovered the M, much less than the Q, but they are in an entirely different segment as the G.....

The LS430 is kicking the Q45's butt. I do not know the numbers on that car, but in LA and San Fran they are very pervasive. I see 1 Q to 25 LS430's.

The bottom line for people that can afford a 60k+ big 4 door car is typically a 50+ year old non-so-performance minded person. I'm talknig the guy that buys it NEW. I have lots of friends that made loads of cash in Technology, Mortages, etc. and they buy BMW's, Audi, Porche, or GS400.

So how do most Q45 and LS430's hit the streets, my bet is the median age bracket is over 50....and for that age bracket the LS430 is much better suited to that market....I've driving in both, I'll take the Q thank you very much.

I was sitting in the backseat of a Q45 at the San Francisco car show about a month ago when a couple sat in the front. The husband says "this is pretty nice, how do you like it?" The wife replied "for that much money, I'd get a BMW or a Benz." I suspect that statement is the root of the Q45 sales problem. The Q45 doesn't have an "image" in the minds of the general public, and people who buy $60K cars generally want "image." I'd guess the ratio of LS430s to 2002+ Q45s in Norcal is more like 100-1. I hardly ever see them.

But Nissan is just warming up. This weekend, I saw a commercial for the 2004 AWD G35 sedan. (hint: GT-R!)But Nissan's (and Infiniti's) marketing is all about performance. That works well in the near luxury class but not for big luxury cars like the Q. I believe once G35s become as popular as the BMW 3 series, luxury buyers will start to look at the Q much more.

I can't drive more than two blocks anywhere in Toronto, without seeing at least one G35(no exaggeration!). There are lots of them up here all model types and colours. I've noticed 3 different g35x's one my way to work today.

I went by the dealer by my house the other day and about 90% of the cars on the lot are G sedans.

wow that's sooo different from the Tacoma area(i think even Seattle), i beleive i've seen a TOTAL of 5 G35's here, ever. However, i was recently at the Southcenter mall(seattle) and they had a G35 parked inside of it. The car drew quite a crowd at all times(i convinced my girlfriend to walk by that area about 4 times) and i heard nothing but positive marks such as. "Oh, THAT'S an Infiniti" "Yea, they're like Lexus, but from Nissan" I think i even hard one guy trying to talk his wife into getting one. I think once anyone gives Infiniti a chance they see very quickly how great of a car it is for the money.
