Wow thats a big difference.....whats the weight of oil that i should use?Sentientbydesign wrote:Riverside Infiniti quoted me $55/fluid if I brought in my own fluids. I am still thinking about switching to Amsoil Synthetic diff and transmission oil.
Thanks jacko and yes it's an automaticJacko3 wrote:If auto trans, use synthetic--my mechanic was adamant about this. If manual, from my experience, use OEM Nissan fluids---works just great.
Ask your Nissan tech. I believe it's 80 weight, but I could be wrong. It also depends wether or not you have a LSD.mrsmithGrider wrote:

I have to disagree. Sorry Jacko. I'm not sure why, but it's widely accepted that Nissan ATF is the best option for your AT. I think the owner's manual states to use it or DIE...well, not that bad, but it's pretty specific about using their fluids for your auto.Jacko3 wrote:If auto trans, use synthetic--my mechanic was adamant about this. Go to amsoil's website and find a local dealer. They might have some on hand. Amsoil is NOT sold in stores that I am aware of.mrsmithGrider wrote:

For rear differential oil, I'd use Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Oil 75W-90 or 75W-140. Either is fine. You need to take two 1qt bottles with you. You don't have to do this at the dealership - any place with a lift will be able to do this with ease in 15 minutes.mrsmithGrider wrote:I scheduled for my rear differential oil to be changed tomorrow at the dealership. I was wondering should I change to synthetic oil? Take into consideration that I have 80k miles on my car. And if so, what type of oil....im sure if I buy it separate at wally world it would take away from the 150 dollar price they quoted me with over the phone.
Are you speaking of the differential oil used? If so, it was the royal purple 75w90Jacko3 wrote:Did you ensure that the right GL series was used? I am not sure if it is a GL - 4 or GL - 5 series fluid. Can anyone help me here?
Did you notice a difference in performance?tollboothwilley wrote:I swapped mine out to Royal Purple (75w - 90) full synthetic.
Cost me $11 a liter for 3 liters plus $7-8 bucks for a pump.
I only ended up using 2 quarts though.
Manual says 2 qts I believe...
and DEFINITELY go with synthetic for the gear oil, not for the transmission
I would recommend putting synthetic gear oil in the differentials as soon as possible after to avoid further wear or troublesome break downs. Synthetic oils have proven to cause less wear on mechanical or moving parts. Mobil 1, Royal Purple or Valvoline differential gear oil are all good to use as long as it is synthetic.Tampa G35 Sedan 6MT wrote:Is the Royal Purple stuff any good? Should i wait for more mileage?
