I have a 2003 G35 with the base stereo (no SAT radio button). I want to add an iPod, but it seems the direct connect kits available require the SAT button. Can I simply change out the radio to the upgraded radio so I can take advantage of the one with SAT button? Is it a simple plug and play swap?

The stereo I have now sounds quite good to me, but if I swap it out for the upgraded unit, will that be the BOSE that everyone complains about (bad sound uality)? My stereo sounds very good (it says it's a BOSE), and I wouldn't want to sacrifice the sound quality in order to add the iPod.

If I do make the swap, I want to make sure I get the right color. Mine looks to be 'silver'. I know they come in black, maybe titanium? What were the faceplate color choices in 2003?

Lastly, if I don't do a swap, are there ANY options for hard-wiring an iPod in the non-SAT radios?

Thanks!

I'm not sure is a SAT button equopped stereo will work or not, but my gut tells me it will.

The SAT input for the ipod or any auxillary source is ideal, but you can also use a RF modulator.

what is a RF modulator, and any idea what is necessary to do this type of hook-up?

It plugs inline on your antenna cable. You change the radio station to the preset channel and it will play the auxillary plugged into it over the radio frequency. There are some wireless versions out there, but from what I've seen, they don't work as great.

An inline version will require 2 antenna adapters on the G35. Nissans and Infinitis use a 2 prong antenna. RF modulators use a standard single prong. So you would need an adapter to convert the dual prong to single and attach to the RF, and then a single to dual to attach the RF to the radio. It might be possible to find a RF modulator adapter as well. I haven't searched much on that, but it might be out there.

Just to save you the time and money dont ever use an FM modulator. Do you have a 6 cd changer? Non Bose or Bose?

I have a BOSE unit with 6-CD changer (but not a SAT button or CDC button).

Thanks for the link. So, will this work with my BOSE stereo, even though i don't have a Satellite button? Where does it plug into on the back of the radio?

Just checked.....

According to Cruthfield, this adaptor will not work with my 2003 sedan with Bose stereo. However, some of the reviewers said it worked with their stereo even though Crutchfield said it would not.

Which model/year is yours installed in?

i used this, http://www.discountcarstereo.c...D=754

you dont need sat button. after you install this device, the radio button scrolls though two extra setttings. it thinks you have xm radio or something. works great for me. and PS, the fm modulators suck. this device basically piggybacks plugs in the back of your stereo so you dont need to cut anything. there are other brands as well but the above works good for me.

the only problem i see with this device is that you cannot charge your ipod with this device. you would have to buy a seperate device in conjunction with this one to actually charge it. The device that i recomended plugs in the bottom of your ipod and also gives you a seperate aux input in case you hook up a tv or someting. Yes i also agree that FM SUCKS

I don't think this will work for me either. My Bose deos not have a 'Radio' button. It only has an FM and an AM button. So, it is not Satellite ready. The link you posted says the radio has to be satellite ready. Unless there's something I am missing......

I'm still hoping someone can answer these questions:

Can I swap my non-SAT Bose with a SAT-enabled Bose? I don't need the Satellite Radio, but I do want to use the input to hook my iPod to.

Or, can I keep my current Bose, and plug my iPod into the CD changer input? Is there even a CD changer input? My changer is broken, of course (only will play disc #6).
