Sounds like you have a vacuum leak. Double check all of the connections that were disturbed.

The MAF is calibrated to have the oem air filter and housing on front of it. Changes can affect the exact voltage output but usually more subtle than a full shut down.

Sounds like a faulty MAF. Have the dealer check it out. (You may want to put on the stock intake first )

what exactly is MAF? that doesnt sound much fun , it took about 7 of us like 2 1/2 hours to install it . the longest part i guess was getting all the rubber around the shield, even had to cut some of it to make it fit

make sure it is plugged in and also make sure it doesn't rub on the a/c line. You need to double check the vacuum hoses that were disconnected for the install and make sure they were re connected.

I notice no one asked, so I will...aside from disconnecting the battery, did you re-calibrate the system. There is a whole sequence you have to go through to get all of the sensors to see the new values as correct. Someone here should be able to post the reset sequence.

BTW, the MAF is the mass air flow sensor. It sticks out of the intake tube (if you are looking at the front of the car) on the right side about 1 1/2" or 2" behind the airbox.

recalibration should not be needed for just an aftermarket intake!! Most likely he damaged the MAF during the install, or left it touching the AC lines. If the MAF is in contact with that line, it could become damaged from the excessive vibration.

No one got curious and stuck their finger in the MAF right?? Maybe played with the little metal "flap"??

Let us know what it was

Good luck!

Sorry Joe, but I have to respectfully disagree. When I installed both my Kinetix intake and my Injen CAI, I was advised by folks who know far more than I about these engines to re-set and recalibrate the computer. I did so and have never had one problem.

If he did damage the MAF during the install, then it's going to be a pricey repair.

so I looked everything over and didn't find a vaccum leak Though I have not checked aboutthe ac line. Basically what happens is when im slowing down I would shift into second and hold the clutch in an just coast until I get to the light or wherever I may be stopping. while doing this I noticed that the rpms drop lower than it use to. It drops down to about 3-400 rpm , so i've been letting the clutch out a little bit lately to keep it from dying out.

Your throttle body could be having issues. I had this happen in my 04 ford truck. The rpms would go down and stay about 500 rpms. Woudn't die however it's an electronic throttle body. Just a thought.

Make sure you let us know what fixed the problem! Anyone else do ECU reset after installing a CAI?

I ordered the pop charger and have already put on the z tube. I did an ecu resest after the z tube. I love the z tube and can't wait to get the pop charger in. Tuesday is the day!

I did the PopCharger, Z tube, and grounding gear all at the same time, and, as a function of the grounding gear installation, reset the ECU. I had no problems, until recently. After running the car, shutting it off, and restarting it, on the first restart, with the car still warm, the RPMs would dip down far enough to shut the engine down. The second try it ran just fine. When I took it in for the 45k service, the dealer said that the throttle body needed to be cleaned, that it likely had carbon build up. Since they cleaned it, I have had no further trouble.
