UPDATED and EDITED:

I just chose the M35! I'm so happy! Thanks, guys for all the answers!

Hi,

I have two cars in mind, a 2005 G35 Coupe 6sp with 45k miles, certified, for the same price as a 2006 M35 Sport 49k miles, Journey package, 19+ wheels too, also certified.

I test drove the Manual speed coupe, didn't like the throw. I thought the BMW 325 I tested was smoother. Maybe the clutch was going bad? Maybe a short throw will cure this?

I'm interested with the M35 sport due to the following:

1. I'm having another kid coming...; I have an FX 35 already, but a bigger car can be of help;2. Short commute; so gas prices are not an issue;

3. Active Steering, standard on the M35 Sport, right? Is it worth it? Can't wait to test it. I had a Peugeot when I lived in Europe years ago, and it had the steering rear differential. Boy, was that fun to drive!

4. I'm thinking about putting the paddle shifter from the G37 on the auto M35, as somebody did with an FX already on the mp3car.com forum.

Any suggestions?

Just in terms of the space issue, I would go with M. G35 coup is a fun car but taking your kid in and out of it will be a major pain. If you do decide to go with G35, you may want to consider a sedan.

The G would be a sportier option with luxury second...The M sport would be luxury first, sport second.

Rear active steering is a neat little option, but I wouldn't let that be your decision maker.

Are you trading the FX?

My wife is keeping the FX, she loves it. I can't barely drive it. Now I'm questioning the dealer, just saw that the M35 has wood trim. I thought all M35 sport would have aluminum trim...strange...how do I know when a Infiniti has active steering? Is there a way to look under the car and see it?

BTW, thanks for all the answers! I'll have to post the same question on the M forum now...hope this is allowed.

Keep looking becasue 49k miles on a 06 is a lot.... That car was probably driven hard becasue the loss of value didn't mean anything to the previous owner...

I agree...I run an Edmunds quote, it suggests a -2160 off due to the mileage alone. Dealer is asking 3900 off this Edmunds price, I asked and got another 1000k off (total 28.800). Looks like a good deal, and it is a certified car...what say you guys?

I don't know how much you drive.... but if it is alot per year like 15-20k then i would go for a different car... don't get one that has 49k miles on it. If you don't drive a lot... THen in 3 to 4 years it might have 80k miles then that is the way to go; You get a nice car, good price, you take it back to say an average 15k miles a year by then... lol

M35.. it's way more comfortable.

I like my G35 C.. but I can't honestly say it's much more comfortable then my 240sx Coupe.. hard suspension, stiff shifter, lots of leg work for the clutch, and it creaks and moans..

I still love my G but you have to remember it's more Sport then Comfort.

^ The G35 sedan on the other hand is very smooth and comfortable... + you can pick one up with low miles for about 15k..

I'd do neither,

Go find a 2007 G35 sedan, faster then either and about in the middle on space.

All depends on what you want.. luxury or sport.

My Mom just caught Infiniti fever ( how did that happen ) and bought an 07 M35x. The car is beautiful! It's pure luxury and it's got some balls. The G coupe is definitely faster and sportier with class though. The G sedan ... well, you get the best of both worlds. Depends on what you want and what body style really grabs you!
