I've written on this topic before. Here is more!

Well while purchasing new tires and wipers today at my local Infiniti dealer, I asked the service person about oil consumption. I was told that Infiniti has finally recognized the problem in the 05 and 06 G35 engines. Any oil consumption within three thousand miles qualifies for a new complete engine at no charge. (I'll actually believe it when it happens) I actually added a quart of oil prior to going for the tires because I had gone 2500 miles since my last oil change. This was the best & most mileage I've gotten since my vehicle was new. I was only getting 1000 miles per quart when new. Anyway I gave them all my documentation on my oil changes and adding oil over the past two years.(see attached previous post) Since I mentioned oil consumption to the dealer two years ago & it is in my record, I may not have to return every thousand miles. I may receive approval for a new engine next week. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.I also decided to go for the extended warranty as the price jumps up once you go over 50k miles. It covers items that the standard warranty does not cover such a belts & hoses. A HID headlight replacement for a vehicle not under warranty is over $600. All bulbs, switches, relays etc are also covered. So I'm good till 96k miles and 2012.
