G35 - new fan belt stink....normal??

Had new fanbelts put on my G35. When at a light, I can smell the fan belt at times. It's not a real strong smell, but I do smell it. I don't think the wife even notices it. Driving down the road, you can't smell it at all.They make no noise and appear to be tight.Is this normal?

I had a similiar problem with my cobra. I put on a Motorcraft belt and it stunk 100 times worse that this. I ended up taking the belt back and getting a different brand that doesn't stink. Ford told me that the 'new' Motorcraft belt had a 'new' coating on it to make it last longer, but it had a horribly strong smell. Thanks!

I have an '03 coupe with 28K miles on it. I just had belts replaced and the in cabin micro filter. My car now has a nasty smell which is starting to diminish. I thought it might be a stinky mechanic (for those of you who remember the Seinfeld episode). Maybe its the new belts.
