Because of this hard shift I would like to see the schematics of the first and second gears synchro mechanism design, to understand where exactly the problem may be.Is feels like the pressude conic plate (if it has something like this) dos not engage properly before the synchro wheel engages. If I can see how it is built/works, it may help me correct it.So far only slow two stroke shift can engage the second smoothly. This problem does not happen when downshifting.

Thanks

I have heard of people switching to redline MT90 and really helping.

I saw/heard many people discussing the "Red Line Products"But does this MT90 contains any sulfur or other corrosive additives that may damage the synchro wheels? So far I used a 1/2 quart of Lucas heavy duty 75/140 with no changes.A week later I found out that Lucas does have corrosive additives.I just hope that 1/6TH or less of the transmission oil beeing such will not damage anything.

Many people put the MT90 in Nissan MT's and it works great. I remember reading someone having a 350Z and a simple fluid change made the trans act better. Not sure if it was a similar symptom as yours but it proves that different fluid can help the trans.

Honestly, I'm (regretfully) not so knowledgeable on MT's (stupid Q45s and their AT's only!) so if you'd like for me to move this thread to the G35 forum, just say the word. You might get better responses there.

I THOUGH THIS WAS THE INFINITY CLUB.HOWEVER IF YOU CAN POST THIS ON BOTH SIDES, THE BETTER.THE Z350 AND ALL THE G35 SHOULD HAVE THE SAME MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS

THANKS

I FINALY GOT A HOLD OF "LUCAS OIL COMPANY" AND SPOKE WITH ONE OF THEIR EXPERTS.THEY RECOMMEND USING 80% NISAN MT 75/85 OIL PLUS 8 OUCES OF LUCAS HEAVY DUTY OIL STABILIZER WHICH HAS NO SULPHUR IN IT.HE ALSO MENTIONED THAT OTHER OILS LIKE THE "GL5" GEAR OILS CONTAIN SULPHUR WHICH IS HARMFULL TO THE SYNCHRO WEELS.SO TODAY, I BOUGHT 3 QUARTS OF NISAN MT "GL4"OIL AND ADDED 8 OZ OF LUCAS HEAVY DUTY STABILIZER. NOW I HAVE TO DRIVE AND WATCH FOR ANY CHANGES TO THE HARD SHIFT PROBLEM.

well i can tell you a few things that you might already know. but my 05 g35 has had a very hard time shifting from first to second. at first i thought it was me. but the only time it would act up would be if i was shifting fast then it would really act up it would grind in so bad. but here is what i have done and now it doesnt grind and goes into gear easier i purchased the engine damper off ebay ok this is like $50. it does not have a name brand on it but it is the same 1 stillen uses. i know this do to my friend has the stillen on his z and they are identical. and for the 100 dolars cheaper it does the same thing. now i was told that the hard shifting was the result of engine torque twisting the shifter out of position so that is how i fixed mine. the trade off is you feel more engine vibrations in the car. this could fix your problem. let me know how you make out?

My good friend, I fear to tell you that the majority of my solution to the never ending surprises posed by my G-35 is to flog the hell out of the car. When I mean flog the car, I really mean 6,000 to 7,000 RPM, routinely---Oh, yes, the car loves it like hell. I can't explain to you why flogging the car seems to bring it to its senses, I just know it does. BTW, I have a 2007 G-35 Coupe 6 MT.

First of all, I use Genuine Nissan Manual Transmission oil as stated in the manual. It works perfectly well. When I bought my car newly, sometimes in 3rd and 4th gear, my shift knob would shudder and vibrate for no apparent reason. I would then put it in neutral and then move it to the next higher or lower gear to the one that had earlier shuddered. However, after many untold hours of flogginig the car and being pulled over 6 times by cops, all those crazy symptoms of the car have varnished faster than David Cooperfield could hide "Lady Liberty" or the Statue of Liberty.

When I changed my transmission fluid, I tried using synthetic manual transmission gear oil---I didn't like the feel of it as Ii felt like my hands were actually touching the iron and steel inside the gear box. I asked them to remove the synthetic stuff and replace it with the gear oil recommended by Nissan. My car whined and whistled a litle bit at that time. But now, all that noise is gone. Occassionally, I hear the whinning noise and then it is gone for days and sometimes weeks.

I have also discovered that when I try to shift when the car is moving slowly, the synchronizer seems to sometimes fail to direct the gears into the right place only by a small margin. However, I have never ground the gears at all.

So, my advice to you is to flog the car routinely. This is the only language the car understands--ti has solved many of the car's problems except for preventing me from being pulled over byand hurriedly put together. Many parts of the car that are failed were not a consequence of bad parts, but a consequence of poor workmanship. I say this becausethe previous engine my car had and my current transmission were like oil and water. But the current revised engine I have and my current transmission work like husband and wife---happily living their lives together under the sheets or hood.
