Anybody making struts for the G35 hood similar to the ones used for the trunk?

Not a fan of the prop rod that comes on the car.

Yeah, they don't have anything.

I'll keep looking.

Thanks,

John

I haven't come across anything. My understanding of why they choose that was weight. I bet it didn't hurt that it is a cost saving as well though.

Okay, here is some promising news.

I contacted the manufaturer, NRG, of the hood struts I have on my 2006 Mazda wagon. Keep in mind that these were bolt-on and did not need any fabrication.

Here is the response I received to my email:

I am interested in a set of hood dampers for my 2007 Infiniti G35 coupe.

I have a set of the dampers on my 2006 Mazda 6 and I am impressed with the product.

I notice you sell the kits for the Nissan 350Z. Since the 350Z and the G35 are built on the same platform, will the 350 Z fit my application?

Please advise.

Regards,

John

Yes they will. We even have an updated version going to be released soon.

Thank you

I plan on purchasing a set and will advise if they are truly a bolt-on part.

The ones on my Mazda work flawlessly and hold the hood open with ease.

NRG's web site is:

Scroll down the page and click on hood dampers.

I remember coming across a site that sold the struts for $80-100...Most people thought that was too much. Still don't know why a luxury sports car wouldn't have 'em...and also, why didn't Infiniti cover the drivers side master cylinder/brake distro with black plastic like the battery...? At least the trunk is carpeted on the latch.

I have wondered the very same things many times, Joe.

There is a cover out there for the brake fluid. I can't remember who is making it, but it is relatively inexpesnsive and finishes off the engine bay nicely.
