Car: 2007 Infiniti G35 Coupe

New to these forums but figured I would try to get some advice here.

I have an Infiniti G35 Coupe(2007) and am having issues with my Slip light coming on as well as the engine losing power causing bucking/jerking. This originally happened over a year ago for the first time and didn't happen for months after, now it happens within a five minute drive.

Slip light always comes on, ABS light has appeared once recently but no other lights that I remember seeing. Car is pretty much undrivable and I'm at the point now where I can tell when it's going to happen, the engine sounds like it's making a "whirring" sound. Couple other things I've noticed which I hope provide more insight to the problem are reduced gas mileage as well as a distinct smell upon startup. Took it to a local mechanic and he reset the steering angle sensor, cleaned the wheel speed sensors, and replaced my front right wheel hub assembly. I kind of figured I was wasting my time with those repairs but he just seemed stumped to the point where he told me to send it to an "infiniti" dealer.

Side note: I've been researching similar problems to mine and have topped off fluid level multiple times to no avail and I believe my brakes are okay still.

Anyways, sorry for the long post but I would greatly appreciate any feedback.

I'll give you my opinion which you may not like

That was mistake #1

Why didn't you have the vehicle checked for any codes at that time?

You may have more than one problem?

If it was my vehicle I would have had it checked out by a qualified Infiniti technician.
Giving an Infiniti to unqualified and untrained people who call themselves a mechanic usually ends up costing more both in time, aggravation, and loss of use of vehicle

Good luck

Car is an automatic, and I'm just driving usually around 35-45mph when I can feel a loss of power and the humming or whirring noise. Once this happens, the car starts to buck or jerk until it comes to a stop and will continue to do so until I restart the car.

No service engine light.

Appreciate it and trust me I wish I had taken it to an Infiniti mechanic right away.

You may want to invest in an OBDll reader
They are not expensive

Starting an automotive library might help you also.
