To my knowledge they won't be releasing an AWD 6MT G35 Coupe.... at least not any time soon

Why does she hate the sedan?

she hates the back end. but i dont think she would be getting a MT, i dont think she has any desire to learn how to drive a MT. so it most likely will be an AT. her other car option she is looking at is the RX-8

Why is the AWD so important? The G35X is rather heavy. Unless it is for rain and snow, I see very little benefit from having the AWD in terms of performance.

As everyone has said, the G35 coupe will not be coming out in AWD.

As long as she stays with the auto and without the 18's, the car handles really well in snow and rain.

As for the RX8, it is nice car, but it really does not compare well with the G35 coupe.

Get the auto G coupe. She will be very happy.

Well the RX-8 was compared with the 350Z and the S2000 in Motor Trend this month and beat both of them for various reasons, though the 350Z was definitely faster and more powerful. I don't think even an RX-8 with all the options could beat out the base model G35 coupe.

The RX8 boards tell a not so wonderful story about the car.

Yeah, Mazda has had to re-post its horsepower 3 times now. They say that "apparently" you can't measure a rotary engine on a dyno. My only question is: what did they do about the RX-7 all those years then? :rolleyes

How could anyone like the RX-8 nose, and hate the G35 rear end??? I think the hump on the RX-8 rear is worse than the G35 sedan.

The new G35 trunks are a little better than the first ones, but I still think some work is needed on the sedan's tail lights.

I would compare the RX-8 to the G35 Coupe, any day.

I think, the reason the RX-8 is popular with the media, is the silly rear doors, and the rotary engine. Try finding a RX-7, that has not been rebuilt at least once. Dependability is not been very good on these cars.

The 1993 RX-7, with the twin turbo, was a screamer.

Did I miss something?

Last I heard, the G coupe's 2006 incarnation was supposed to incorporate the AWD as well as (possibly) the 4.5l.

When I was working for the dealership...

I think we had a thread about it. Search "G45".

I thought it was just the G45 (Skyline) that would be AWD.

That was my impression too. That the G35 would remain just RWD and that the new Skyline coming to the US would be AWD.

Couldbe - In which case it's simply a matter of semantics. :)

and 1.0 litres of engine!

4.5 - 3.5 = 1.0

Well, cost is going to be the biggest difference. Don't expect to be picking one up for $30,000.

$43k-$51k sounds about right.

Slap on twin turbos, AWD, and 6MT, and I would guess close to $70k. Especially with the dollar valued against the yen the way it has been (will be).
