Had a G35 Cold air intake put on sunday. Was just wondering if there should be a slight vibration when i accelerate......Popped the hood looked at the intake seems the filter is pressing pretty tight against a bolt with a rubber bushing around it...looks like some part of an engine mount or something. Would this cause a problem now or in the future. 2nd This is basically a temporary thing until i get a new splash guard in. The performance shop i went to said i couldnt have had a part of the hose put on until i get my splash guard replaced because they didnt want moisture getting in and killing my engine. [IMG]<a

That bolt with a rubber bushing is used for CAI mount. Just find a bolt with the same thread pitch and diameter. Either that or grind it down to the rubber.

alright thanks for the advice i will definatly give it a try. Will that hurt anything if i leave it as is for a day or two? They still have one more pipe to go in...where is that going to go i cant imagine another pipe fitting anywhere in there. As for the vibrating could that be from the intake touching that bolt as well as a it also touching the area around the filter? Sorry to ask a million and one questions. I just dont want anything happening to my baby

Most damage it can do is put a dent on your cone filter. If you're gonna resolve the problem in a couple of days, I don't see any harm. I recently put my stock intake back on for the rain season and have lost the original bolt. I've been using the car without that bolt for about a month now, no issues. I think that bolt is for a support bracket for the AC line.

A couple of issues with your issue. First I dont think that is a cold air intake. The cold air intake comes all the way to the front of the car just behind the bumber and in front of the radiator. So you seem to be running a ram air intake. Which does not need a splash guard. Second I dont know if you installed the intake your self but that little bolt with the rubber bushing is a adapter for mounting the intake at the mounting point just by the strut bar. The one midway on the pipe that you seem to have gotten creative to mount. So my recommendation to you is to move the bolt to the proper place because the way it is touch it can tear your filter under harsh vibrations or bumps. Also forget the splash guard, there is no way water is going that far up your engine bay unless ur hood is open. Hope this helps.

I think he's missing the lower pipe for CAI. Injen makes their CAI system so that you can configure it to CAI or SR.

Temporarily, your current setup will dent your filter at worst. There is a metel screen protecting the filter element with is both durable and flexible. It will take a significant force to be able to punch a hole through that screen. Vibrations and bumps for a couple of days will not rip a hole through the screen.I'm not encouraging that you keep it like that for prolonged periods, but if you must drive the car in its current state, it will not hurt to do so for a couple of days.

If they still have another pipe to add, don't mess with that bolt/rubber bushing. That actually hooks to the 2nd pipe to help stabilize the whole system. I had to do the same thing when I installed my nismo intake. The extra pipe will actually take the air filter and move it down into your fenderwell in front of your tire (if its the nismo like mine).

**EDIT** Just noticed it was the Injen. I have no idea where those ones end up lol.

you might want to avoid grinding that ..(may need it if you decide to return to stock or get a REAL cold air intake)..if it really is a problem just put 2 nuts opposite of each other and wrench it off.
