I posted this in the Nissan Audio forum already but wanted to post here to get some additional input from everyone.

I have an 04 g35 coupe with the factory Bose sound system. The problem I am having is that my sound originally came out fine. Then one day the speakers on the right side of the car became very dim and distorted.

At first I thought the speakers were blown but after driving around for a bit (and hitting a bump in the road) the right side came back. Then a day later the right side of the cars speakers did it again. Essentially the passenger side lower speaker is low and distorted. The passenger side tweeter makes no sound and the rear speaker are dim and distorted.

I determined it was the right side of the car by playing around with the balance and fader option on the stereo to narrow down and check the sound levels.

I imagine the problem with my sound system is that it is either the wiring is loose or the amp is almost toast. Also to add the stereo equipment has never been changed. Thanks in advance for any kind of input.

I agree with connections or possibly the amp, but I'd go with connections more due the bump part.

Had the same problem with a Maxima that was only 2 yrs old...turns out wires were ran along a metal bracket by kick panel and eventually wore thru....crackeld and sputtered everytime I hit a bump....

Good luck....

The weird thing that is happening now is that it is working fine again. Sometimes though the sound changes sides and the left side becomes weak and dull. It sometimes fixes itself when I change to a different cd or if i accelerate fast. Im kinda leaning towards either the amp or the whole stereo console. I've read on the forums about how crappy the bose unit messes up alot.

I have an 03 Maxima with a similar problem. With my car, the left channel only cuts out on CD. I can switch over to the tuner and the left channel returns. If the amp was bad or a speaker was bad, it would be the same for both sources CD or FM. I am currently trying to pull the unit out and look at the connection between the CD and the amplifier.

I had the same problem so I took it to the dealer and they had to replace the cd unit because it would only go in and out when I was using cd's not the radio. They said it was a comman problem with the 04coupes!

i have the same problem with my 04 coupe. the left side goes in and out only when playing CD's. So they said it was a common problem? How much did they charge you to replace it? mine is not under warrenty anymore. I was hopeing it might be a loose wire or a wire worn through like the other guy said. I can even tap the left side of my main unit when it goes out, and it will come back again. Thought it was so wierd that it will only do it when playing CD's.

Mine was under warranty but the invoice said that they found the radio unit to have an open circuit. Cost of new audio unit was $550 plus $196 in labor. Good luck!

had the same problem with my 04 coupe. it sounds like its common. the problems not the amp but the actual cd player. u gotta get it replaced but they tell me its close to $600 just for the unit plus another $200 for labor so i went after market.

i bought the metra radio dash kit for $200.bought pioneer head single din head unit $200.bought 4 jl audio 2-way speakers $300.bought subwoofer and amp from my frien $200

so long story short...it cost about the same amount for an aftermarket stereo systems that bumps.

Hello,

I have repaired over a dozen of Nico members units. If there is a problem in the radio I can fix them. We charge $225. If you have any other questions please contact me.

What kind of CD is it? A store-bought album, a burned CD, or an MP3 CD? Has the CD worked before?

had the same thing happen with my 2003 Sedan w/ Nav

constantly had to put the cd in over and over again until it read

finally the cd player jammed and i couldn't use cd's. not good on a long trip

i installed aftermarket stuff, which i was going to do anyways, but this just forced it one day

I've got a stock BOSE deck/dash finish pieceand stock BOSE AMP if someone wants to buy them
