In this article we will show you how to change the shift position to reverse the factory setting. This is a pretty easy modification but careful attention must be payed as these are detectable lines and may cause a CEL to come on

Skill Level 3 of 5

Time Required <1hr

Tools Required

-Screw driver, smallest available

Procedure

First off to remove the shifter assembly.

1.Pull the shift boot,or cover (depending on the year) down to expose the retaining clipNote: Be very careful when removing this clip as they can go flying into tiny little crevices and take hours to find.

2.Remove the shifter knob.

3.Set the parking brake, and put the gear selector in "N"

4.Using a small screwdriver gently pry on the housing to release the locking prads.

5.Carefully pull up on the console lid.

Modifying the shifter connector

6.Carefully pull the white connector forward to release it from its locked position.

7.Now you will need to release the locking connector from the male/female end of the connector.

8.Using the wiring diagram provided locate terminals 7(Purple/Red) and 8(Green)

9.Now you will need to use a very small implement to release the locking mechanism in the connectors and carefully remove them.

10.Once the wire are removed the switch their position.

Once this is completed reassemble the connector and dash in reverse order from above.

Note: Be VERY careful when reinstalling the shifter lid cover as the small aligning tab on the shifter can be broken very easily and it will not fit correctly.
