I think this has been mentioned before by others, but I couldn't find it. This happened to me twice today and it kind of makes me concerned. I have an AT and I was on a slight grade and I'm sure it was in 5th. But the transmission started shaking and so did the shift knob. Is this a problem or is it just because its an AT and got stuck in a wrong gear or something? The car has right around 19,000 miles.

Sounds like it could be the transmission mount...have the dealer look at it.

The transmission mount? How would that create the vibration and shaking going on? I'm not questioning your judgment, I'm just tryin to learn.

If the transmission mount was going bad it would allow for a little play and thus a slight vibration feeling. Its possible. Most of the time you will get a lot more time/mileage on the mounts than what you have currently but who knows...

I'd take it to the dealer and let them check it out.

Not sure on how it mounts for a G, but on my firebird the rubber was falling apart and when you accelerated, it would vibrate the shifter...and the whole car eventually. The replacement was a $20 part.

Gotcha, did that happen in the same case as mine--slight grade, accelerating a little bit?

Since it's an 06, I doubt its the rubber mounts...but you never know. Have the dealer look at it!

enjukuracing.com has motor mounts and a transmission mount for a package price. The mounts are beefed up compared to the stock pieces. check it out.

this is a big time problem bro. Here is what has happened to me in the past. I took it to the dealer and them my car and the shifter is shaking. They said that they would look at it so i said fine.... The call me up the same day and said that nothing was wrong. "i was like, what?" They told me to change the tires and if the problem consists to come back. The thing is... it still shakes everyday on an incline in fifth gear. I did some research and here is what i have found. http://www.infinitihelp.com/ this web site says this.... Access denied ITB07-0302006–2007 INFINITI G35; SHUDDER AT 40 MPHThe vehicle has a shudder when the transmission is at operating temperature and the torque converter is:• Engaging lock-up in 5th gear (light acceleration at 40 mph)• Releasing the lock-up in 5th gear (coasting at about 40 mph)NOTE: CONSULT-II (2006 models) or CONSULT-III (2007 models) can be used to confirmtransmission gear position and lock-up condition.

I told this to the dealer and they said this. There is no problem with your car. There are no check engine lights so we will not check it under your warranty. ALso they said that they would be willing to look at it if i were to pay money out of my pocket, come on!!!! Just wanted to warn you because i am having the same problem.

Sounds like your dealer is tryin to take you for a ride.

Did you talk to the service manager?

I'd call corporate Infiniti if nothing has been resolved in the matter yet...

Thanks for that info. My incident occurred exactly as described there. I was right around 40 on a very slight grade and she started shaking on me. I haven't been able to reproduce it since, but if I can, I will take her in for sure. Thanks man.

My 5AT does a similar thing. No shuddering, but when I go over a speed bump or driveway entrance, I can feel a slight thump in the shifter. Is this normal or might I need a new transmission mount?

Why are you guys in 5th going 40?

I'm in 3rd or 4th going 40. Yes I realize I have an additional gear, but I think you guys need to realize that the engine is struggling to work at that speed.

My car does this in just about every gear under 2k rpms. I could be wrong, but I don't think there is anything wrong with the car, it's the drivers.

echang0501,

Your dealer is an ***-hat. I would complain!

My G35 had a similar problem for awhile and I'm only at 20k. Shuddering happens around 40mph and 60mph on accelerating. Took the car to a dealer and they actually replaced valve body control assembly per ITB07-030. Just picked up the car and it appears that shuddering is gone but I'll have to drive it more to be sure.
