I plan on writing up a full guide when I do figure this out. For now I'll go ahead and list out what i've been trying to do and ask if anyone has any insight into the wiring diagrams.

MY MODEL
2008 Infiniti AT, Bose Audio, No Navigation

OBJECTIVE:
I have a dashboard mount for my cell phone. I'd like to stream audio (such as Pandora/Music/orGPS) from it through my normal car sound system. I have a standard 3.5mm audio jack + USB power that comes off of my car mount. I do not want to have a wire hanging inconveniently across my whole center dash & down into the armrest as that is a very poor implementation. Plus as many have pointed out many times before, Infiniti lacks a 3.5mm jack which is annoying as heck.
The goal is to install some form of audio bypass. My initial targets are either 1) the Auxillary audio cable that runs underneath the shifter from the Ipod/Video feed 2) the CD player audio output or 3) Stream via Bluetooth
I also plan on wiring the USB power into a converter and into the undersides of the cigarette lighter (unless someone else can point me to a better source of power to wire into).

STATUS
I have been reading through the FSM to try to guide my progress (Thanks to whoever on the forum for providing this!!!). It can be found at:
http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/G35/Sedan/2008/ Use fwd.pdf to decode all the file abbreviations.

I have successfully brought the wire off of my phone mount to behind the center console (so that I can wire into the AV unit and the back end of the cigarette lighter).

I have successfully taken apart the whole center console. The order of the disassembly was: 1) Shifter Covering 2) AV Covering 3) LCD/Ventilation Covering 4) LCD Display Unit 5) AV control unit assembly.

Now that I have reached the AV assembly, the piece of hardware I am looking at looks like the following:
Page 322 of: http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/G35/Sedan/2008/AV.pdf

There are a total of 8 plugs coming off the back of this AV Control Assembly:
2 white plugs that go into the Unified Meter and A/C amp at the top.
6 total plugs that go into the back of the AV Control Unit. These plugs are essentially physically located in two triangles with a plug at each corner of the triangle.

Here is a physical diagram of the 8 plugs. I have labeled them 1-8.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
White Box (The Unified Meter and A/C amp)

Top half of the gray AV Control Assembly. The CD player exists on this half.
No wires/plugs

Bottom half of the gray AV Control Assembly.
(3 Small Gray Plug)___(4 White Plug)_________(5 White Plug)___(6 White Plug)

____________(7 White Plug)_____________________(8 Small White Plug)

QUESTIONS
I am trying to identify what each of these plugs are and their respective wiring diagrams (Presumably in AV.pdf FSM). Does anyone have any suggestions? Or rather, more specifically, I'd like to identify which one is the auxiliary audio cable and the respective wiring diagram (coming from the ipod/armrest location). If I can figure out which one this is then plan on trying to wire in my own audio bypass and putting this into my phone output.

Maybe this has been done before? Any suggestions or links to other guides would be of use. So far I have not found anyone doing this specifically although I can't be the first one.

I presume wire #3 = power. Is that safe to assume given the gray plug?

ALTERNATIVE PATH
I was going to try to stream music via bluetooth. Has anyone had any success in tricking your G35 into thinking you are on a phone call? Does audio suffer via this implementation?

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks,
-Aschere

Wow, looks like it's going to be a great write-up, thanks! Try checking out the FSM (link in my sig) for diagrams and wiring schematics

You cannot stream via bluetooth...and the audio would suck if you "tricked" it.

Looking at the wiring diagram it seems the Aux Inputs plug into the AV controller via pins 66, 73, 74, 95, 96, 97. What specific connections do what I'm not sure without trying to map out each piece. It may help to look in the console to see what color codes attach to what.
