I'm looking to buy a G25 journey soon. The only thing hindering my decision right now is the lack of package/options it offers, specifically the navigation system and Bose system. I don't want a bunch of extra buttons near the VGA display that don't do anything. From what I understand the only difference between the G37 and G25 is the motor and what packages they offer. Luckily speakers should be easily replaceable. What's to stop me from buying a G25 and taking it to the dealership and asking them to install the G37's navigation system? Would it be something within their ability? Would I get a push back based off of their policy?

I know the majority of the responses will be to just purchase a G37, however I'm looking to stay at 35k or below. If I go for the G37 journey, add on both packages for the Bose system and the navigation system you're at or above 40k. To be honest, if I decided to spend 40k there's a lot of other luxury type cars that come into the scene at that price range that can compete very well and I doubt at the point I decide to spend 40k an Infiniti would not be in my top selection.

Great questions.

I'll give you an even BETTER idea. Save the huge amount that the dealer charges and get the G25 WITHOUT Bose / Nav. They both suck anyway.

Take it to a reputable car audio shop, get a NICE double-DIN head unit with GPS NAV, Bluetooth, touchscreen, iPod input, etc., a good amp, and some high-end speakers. It'll be WAY better than factory stuff, and you'll spend half the money.

Welcome aboard!

Thanks for the welcome and quick response.

You're correct in It would be the cheaper solution, but then I'm going to have a hell of a lot of useless buttons right below that double din. I'd also have to worry about integration for the AC and rear view monitor, correct?

Not sure on that one. I'm guessing any reputable shop can integrate the rear monitor easily. The HVAC controls, I'm not certain. I'd ask a local shop. If they've done a G37, they can do the G25. :)

What do you mean bunch of useless buttons? Those are all part of the info package. They all have their function. What other cars you looking also?

I actually like the Infiniti NAV...at least in the '07+ sedan/08+ coupes. Nothing wrong with the Bose either. I disliked it in my Maxima but like it in my G37 coupe, which is better than the '07 sedan Bose, IMO.

Zoom in, zoom out, dest, route, and map I'd assume would be useless since you can't get the nav package on the G25.

those buttons wont be there if you dont have navigation... you also will not have an "enter" button on your steering wheel and no touch screen.

lol I felt real stupid pressing the screen on the g37 base model loaner i got, and thinking i can press enter on the streering wheel to confirm a choice.

I personally like how infiniti kept the G37 as its "bread and butter", and the G25 as the real "entry level" luxury car... cause most people would just buy a g25 instead of a g37 if the engine was the only difference. i mean ask BMW, every one drives a 325 or very under powered 525, you rarely see 335 or 535 on the road...

This is what the Infiniti controller looks like without Nav packages:

All buttons are basic and useful. No clutter.

NAV is good....Bose stereo needs bass. I installed a Rockford Fosgate PS300-12 in my G37 and it works great. However, I think they are discontinued for some reason...

I agree with the Bose stereo and bass issue in the sedan. I'm content with it in my coupe though as it sounds much cleaner than the sedan. Sure, it can be improved but I'm getting too old to tinker with sound systems anymore and it does fine by me at this time.

get the g25 to stay within your price range. pickup a Garmin for under $200 that gives you lifetime traffic and be wreckless and change it/look up POI while you drive.

then rip all the factory speakers out and put some good quality mid-bass woofers in the doors and if your into it maybe a sub inthe trunk.

All that for under $1000 when you would probably spend $2500 or more to add nav (if possible) to the G25.

just do the dvd/nav hack... works fine... flip a switch, input your address, and flip it back... and you still "reckless" lol

There is no "hack" option if you don't have NAV in the first place ;)

My phone's screen is larger than almost all of the Garmin's...

$800-1000 gets you an awesome Double Din touchscreen head unit with DVD, MP3, EQ...blah blah blah. But probably no traffic :(

Even though Greg has a good point about the Garmin I belive the Infiniti Nav is gorgous and among the most functional in the business..

The Bose in the last couple years has also seem some improvments is really works quite well now compared to years past ( in my old G35 it wasnt that great either, but I sat in a 2011 today and wow)

Just like you, I also like the idea of having a "value-G" by going with a G25, but keep in mind a G37 with the equipment you crave is not such a big reach beyond the G25 maybe an extra 18% in price....

Food for thought :)

reaper:

I drove the G25X AWD today as part of my new sales consultant familiarization with the entire line (i'll be forced to drive every single model infiniti has ;) )

And i must say that car had a lot morpe power and pull than I expected. Drove beautifully!
Maybe the 3.7 isnt a must after all :yesnod
